Ουχί ταύτα έδει παθείν τον Χριστόν και εισελθείν εις την δόξαν αυτού; Και αρξάμενος από Μωσέως και από πάντων των προφητών\, διηρμήνευεν αυτοίς εν πάσαις ταις Γραφαίς τα περί εαυτού. Και ήγγισαν εις την κώμην ού επορεύοντο\, και αυτός προσεποιείτο ποῤρωτέρω πορεύεσθαι. Και παρεβιάσαντο αυτόν\, λέγοντες· Μείνον μεθ’ ημών\, ότι πρός εσπέραν εστί και κέκλικεν η ημέρα. Ουαί οι εγειρόμενοι το πρωΐ\, και τα σίκερα διώκοντες\, οι μένοντες το οψέ· ο γαρ οίνος αυτούς συγκαύσει. μετά γαρ κιθάρας και ψαλτηρίου και τυμπάνων και αυλών τον οίνον πίνουσι\, τα δε έργα Κυρίου ουκ εμβλέπουσι και τα έργα των χειρών αυτού ου κατανοούσι. τοίνυν αιχμάλωτος ο λαός μου εγενήθη διά το μή ειδέναι αυτούς τον Κύριον\, και πλήθος εγενήθη νεκρών διά λιμόν και δίψος ύδατος. και επλάτυνεν ο ᾅδης την ψυχήν αυτού και διήνοιξε το στόμα αυτού του μή διαλιπείν\, και καταβήσονται οι ένδοξοι και οι μεγάλοι και οι πλούσιοι και οι λοιμοί αυτής. και ταπεινωθήσεται άνθρωπος\, και ατιμασθήσεται ανήρ\, και οι οφθαλμοί οι μετέωροι ταπεινωθήσονται. και υψωθήσεται Κύριος σαβαώθ εν κρίματι\, και ο Θεός ο άγιος δοξασθήσεται εν δικαιοσύνη.\nΑνάγνωσις Παλαιᾱς Διαθήκης: Γένεσις 4:8-15\nΚαι είπε Κάϊν πρός ῎Αβελ τον αδελφόν αυτού· διέλθωμεν εις το πεδίον. και εγένετο εν τω είναι αυτούς εν τω πεδίω\, ανέστη Κάϊν επί ῎Αβελ τον αδελφόν αυτού και απέκτεινεν αυτόν. και είπε Κύριος ο Θεός πρός Κάϊν· πού έστιν ῎Αβελ ο αδελφός σου; και είπεν· ου γινώσκω· μή φύλαξ του αδελφού μου ειμί εγώ; καί είπε Κύριος· τί πεποίηκας; φωνή αίματος του αδελφού σου βοά πρός με εκ της γής. και νύν επικατάρατος σύ από της γής\, ή έχανε το στόμα αυτής δέξασθαι το αίμα του αδελφού σου εκ της χειρός σου· ότε εργά την γήν\, και ου προσθήσει την ισχύν αυτής δούναί σοι· στένων και τρέμων έση επί της γής. και είπε Κάϊν πρός Κύριον τον Θεόν· μείζων η αιτία μου του αφεθήναί με· ει εκβάλλεις με σήμερον από προσώπου της γής και από του προσώπου σου κρυβήσομαι\, και έσομαι στένων και τρέμων επί της γής\, και έσται πάς ο ευρίσκων με\, αποκτενεί με. και είπεν αυτώ Κύριος ο Θεός· ουχ ούτως\, πάς ο αποκτείνας Κάϊν επτά εκδικούμενα παραλύσει. και έθετο Κύριος ο Θεός σημείον τω Κάϊν του μή ανελείν αυτόν πάντα τον ευρίσκοντα αυτόν.\nΑνάγνωσις Παλαιᾱς Διαθήκης: Παροιμίαι 5:1-15\nΥιέ\, εμή σοφία πρόσεχε\, εμοίς δε λόγοις παράβαλλε σόν ούς\, ίνα φυλάξης έννοιαν αγαθήν· αίσθησις δε εμών χειλέων εντέλλεταί σοι. μή πρόσεχε φαύλη γυναικί· μέλι γαρ αποστάζει από χειλέων γυναικός πόρνης\, ή πρός καιρόν λιπαίνει σόν φάρυγγα\, ύστερον μέντοι πικρότερον χολής ευρήσεις και ηκονημένον μάλλον μαχαίρας διστόμου. της γαρ αφροσύνης οι πόδες κατάγουσι τους χρωμένους αυτή μετά θανάτου εις τον ᾅδην\, τα δε ίχνη αυτής ουκ ερείδεται· οδούς γαρ ζωής ουκ επέρχεται\, σφαλεραί δε αι τροχιαί αυτής και ουκ εύγνωστοι.\n νύν ούν\, υιέ\, άκουέ μου και μή ακύρους ποιήσης εμούς λόγους. μακράν ποίησον απ᾿ αυτής σήν οδόν\, μή εγγίσης πρός θύραις οίκων αυτής\, ίνα μή πρόη άλλοις ζωήν σου και σόν βίον ανελεήμοσιν· ίνα μή πλησθώσιν αλλότριοι σής ισχύος\, οι δε σοί πόνοι εις οίκους αλλοτρίων έλθωσι και μεταμεληθήση επ᾿ εσχάτων\, ηνίκα άν κατατριβώσι σάρκες σωματός σου\, και ερείς· πώς εμίσησα παιδείαν\, και ελέγχους εξέκλινεν η καρδία μου; ουκ ήκουον φωνήν παιδεύοντός με και διδάσκοντός με\, ουδέ παρέβαλλον το ούς μου· παρ᾿ ολίγον εγενόμην εν παντί κακώ εν μέσω εκκλησίας και συναγωγής. πίνε ύδατα από σών αγγείων και από σών φρεάτων πηγής.
