Και ελθόντι αυτώ εις το ιερόν προσήλθον αυτώ διδάσκοντι οι αρχιερείς και οι πρεσβύτεροι του λαού λέγοντες· εν ποία εξουσία ταύτα ποιείς\, και τίς σοι έδωκε την εξουσίαν ταύτην; αποκριθείς δε ο ᾿Ιησούς είπεν αυτοίς· ερωτήσω υμάς καγώ λόγον ένα\, όν εάν είπητέ μοι\, καγώ υμίν ερώ εν ποία εξουσία ταύτα ποιώ. το βάπτισμα ᾿Ιωάννου πόθεν ήν\, εξ ουρανού ή εξ ανθρώπων; οι δε διελογίζοντο παρ᾿ εαυτοίς λέγοντες· εάν είπωμεν\, εξ ουρανού\, ερεί ημίν\, διατί ούν ουκ επιστεύσατε αυτώ· εάν δε είπωμεν\, εξ ανθρώπων\, φοβούμεθα τον όχλον· πάντες γαρ έχουσι τον ᾿Ιωάννην ως προφήτην. και αποκριθέντες τω ᾿Ιησού είπον· ουκ οίδαμεν. έφη αυτοίς και αυτός· ουδέ εγώ λέγω υμίν εν ποία εξουσία ταύτα ποιώ.\nΤί δε υμίν δοκεί; άνθρωπός τις είχε τέκνα δύο\, και προσελθών τω πρώτω είπε· τέκνον\, ύπαγε σήμερον εργάζου εν τω αμπελώνί μου. ο δε αποκριθείς είπεν· ου θέλω· ύστερον δε μεταμεληθείς απήλθε. και προσελθών τω δευτέρω είπεν ωσαύτως. ο δε αποκριθείς είπεν· εγώ\, κύριε· και ουκ απήλθε. τίς εκ των δύο εποίησε το θέλημα του πατρός; λέγουσιν αυτώ· ο πρώτος. λέγει αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς· αμήν λέγω υμίν ότι οι τελώναι και αι πόρναι προάγουσιν υμάς εις την βασιλείαν του Θεού. ήλθε γαρ πρός υμάς ᾿Ιωάννης εν οδώ δικαιοσύνης\, και ουκ επιστεύσατε αυτώ· οι δε τελώναι και αι πόρναι επίστευσαν αυτώ· υμείς δε ιδόντες ου μετεμελήθητε ύστερον του πιστεύσαι αυτώ.\n῎Αλλην παραβολήν ακούσατε. άνθρωπός τις ήν οικοδεσπότης\, όστις εφύτευσεν αμπελώνα και φραγμόν αυτώ περιέθηκε και ώρυξεν εν αυτώ ληνόν και ᾠκοδόμησε πύργον\, και εξέδοτο αυτόν γεωργοίς και απεδήμησεν. ότε δε ήγγισεν ο καιρός των καρπών\, απέστειλε τους δούλους αυτού πρός τους γεωργούς λαβείν τους καρπούς αυτού. και λαβόντες οι γεωργοί τους δούλους αυτού όν μέν έδειραν\, όν δε απέκτειναν\, όν δε ελιθοβόλησαν. πάλιν απέστειλεν άλλους δούλους πλείονας των πρώτων\, και εποίησαν αυτοίς ωσαύτως. ύστερον δε απέστειλε πρός αυτούς τον υιόν αυτού λέγων· εντραπήσονται τον υιόν μου. οι δε γεωργοί ιδόντες τον υιόν είπον εν εαυτοίς· ούτός εστιν ο κληρονόμος· δεύτε αποκτείνωμεν αυτόν και κατάσχωμεν την κληρονομίαν αυτού. και λαβόντες αυτόν εξέβαλον έξω του αμπελώνος\, και απέκτειναν. όταν ούν έλθη ο κύριος του αμπελώνος\, τί ποιήσει τοις γεωργοίς εκείνοις; λέγουσιν αυτώ· κακούς κακώς απολέσει αυτούς\, και τον αμπελώνα εκδώσεται άλλοις γεωργοίς\, οίτινες αποδώσουσιν αυτώ τους καρπούς εν τοις καιροίς αυτών. λέγει αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς· ουδέποτε ανέγνωτε εν ταις γραφαίς\, λίθον όν απεδοκίμασαν οι οικοδομούντες\, ούτος εγενήθη εις κεφαλήν γωνίας· παρά Κυρίου εγένετο αύτη\, και έστι θαυμαστή εν οφθαλμοίς ημών; διά τούτο λέγω υμίν ότι αρθήσεται αφ᾿ υμών η βασιλεία του Θεού και δοθήσεται έθνει ποιούντι τους καρπούς αυτής\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον  24:3-35\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, καθημένου του Ιησού επί του ῎Ορους των ελαιών προσήλθον αυτώ οι μαθηταί κατ᾿ ιδίαν λέγοντες· ειπέ ημίν πότε ταύτα έσται\, και τί το σημείον της σής παρουσίας και της συντελείας του αιώνος; και αποκριθείς ο ᾿Ιησούς είπεν αυτοίς· βλέπετε μή τις υμάς πλανήση. πολλοί γαρ ελεύσονται επί τω ονόματί μου λέγοντες\, εγώ ειμι ο Χριστός\, και πολλούς πλανήσουσι. μελλήσετε δε ακούειν πολέμους και ακοάς πολέμων· οράτε μή θροείσθε· δεί γαρ πάντα γενέσθαι\, αλλ᾿ ούπω εστί το τέλος. εγερθήσεται γαρ έθνος επί έθνος και βασιλεία επί βασιλείαν\, και έσονται λιμοί και λοιμοί και σεισμοί κατά τόπους·πάντα δε ταύτα αρχή ωδίνων. τότε παραδώσουσιν υμάς εις θλίψιν και αποκτενούσιν υμάς\, και έσεσθε μισούμενοι υπό πάντων των εθνών διά το όνομά μου. και τότε σκανδαλισθήσονται πολλοί και αλλήλους παραδώσουσι και μισήσουσιν αλλήλους. και πολλοί ψευδοπροφήται εγερθήσονται και πλανήσουσι πολλούς\, και διά το πληθυνθήναι την ανομίαν ψυγήσεται η αγάπη των πολλών. ο δε υπομείνας εις τέλος\, ούτος σωθήσεται. και κηρυχθήσεται τούτο το ευαγγέλιον της βασιλείας εν όλη τη οικουμένη εις μαρτύριον πάσι τοις έθνεσι\, και τότε ήξει το τέλος. ῞Οταν ούν ίδητε το βδέλυγμα της ερημώσεως το ρηθέν διά Διανιήλ του προφήτου εστώς εν τόπω αγίω – ο αναγινώσκων νοείτω – τότε οι εν τη ᾿Ιουδαία φευγέτωσαν επί τα όρη\, ο επί του δώματος μή καταβαινέτω άραι τα εκ της οικίας αυτού\, και ο εν τω αγρώ μή επιστρεψάτω οπίσω άραι τα ιμάτια αυτού. ουαί δε ταις εν γαστρί εχούσαις και ταις θηλαζούσαις εν εκείναις ταις ημέραις. προσεύχεσθε δε ίνα μή γένηται η φυγή υμών χειμώνος μηδέ σαββάτω. έσται γαρ τότε θλίψις μεγάλη\, οία ου γέγονεν απ᾿ αρχής κόσμου έως του νύν ουδ᾿ ου μή γένηται. και ει μή εκολοβώθησαν αι ημέραι εκείναι\, ουκ άν εσώθη πάσα σάρξ· διά δε τους εκλεκτούς κολοβωθήσονται αι ημέραι εκείναι. τότε εάν τις υμίν είπη\, ιδού ώδε ο Χριστός ή ώδε\, μή πιστεύσητε· εγερθήσονται γαρ ψευδόχριστοι και ψευδοπροφήται και δώσουσι σημεία μεγάλα και τέρατα\, ώστε πλανήσαι\, ει δυνατόν\, και τους εκλεκτούς. ιδού προείρηκα υμίν. εάν ούν είπωσιν υμίν\, ιδού εν τη ερήμω εστί\, μή εξέλθητε\, ιδού εν τοις ταμείοις\, μή πιστεύσητε· ώσπερ γαρ η αστραπή εξέρχεται από ανατολών και φαίνεται έως δυσμών\, ούτως έσται και η παρουσία του υιού του ανθρώπου· όπου γαρ εάν ᾖ το πτώμα\, εκεί συναχθήσονται οι αετοί.\nΕυθέως δε μετά την θλίψιν των ημερών εκείνων ο ήλιος σκοτισθήσεταικαί η σελήνη ου δώσει το φέγγος αυτής\, και οι αστέρες πεσούνται από του ουρανού\, και αι δυνάμεις των ουρανών σαλευθήσονται. και τότε φανήσεται το σημείον του υιού του ανθρώπου εν τω ουρανώ\, και τότε κόψονται πάσαι αι φυλαί της γής και όψονται τον υιόν του ανθρώπου ερχόμενον επί των νεφελών του ουρανού μετά δυνάμεως και δόξης πολλής. και αποστελεί τους αγγέλους αυτού μετά σάλπιγγος φωνής μεγάλης\, και επισυνάξουσι τους εκλεκτούς αυτού εκ των τεσσάρων ανέμων απ᾿ άκρων ουρανών έως άκρων αυτών. ᾿Από δε της συκής μάθετε την παραβολήν. όταν ήδη ο κλάδος αυτής γένηται απαλός και τα φύλλα εκφύη\, γινώσκετε ότι εγγύς το θέρος· ούτω και υμείς όταν ίδητε ταύτα πάντα\, γινώσκετε ότι εγγύς εστιν επί θύραις. αμήν λέγω υμίν\, ου μή παρέλθη η γενεά αύτη έως άν πάντα ταύτα γένηται. ο ουρανός και η γή παρελεύσονται\, οι δε λόγοι μου ου μή παρέλθωσι.

When the disciples saw it they marveled\, saying\, “How did the fig tree wither at once?” And Jesus answered them\, “Truly\, I say to you\, if you have faith and never doubt\, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree\, but even if you say to this mountain\, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea\,’ it will be done. And whatever you ask in prayer\, you will receive\, if you have faith. ” And when he entered the temple\, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching\, and said\, “By what authority are you doing these things\, and who gave you this authority?” Jesus answered them\, “I also will ask you a question; and if you tell me the answer\, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John\, whence was it? For many will come in my name\, saying\, ‘I am the Christ\,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place\, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation\, and kingdom against kingdom\, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places: all this is but the beginning of the sufferings.\n Then they will deliver you up to tribulation\, and put you to death; and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away\, and betray one another\, and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because wickedness is multiplied\, most men’s love will grow cold. But he who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world\, as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come.\n So when you see the desolating sacrilege spoken of by the prophet Daniel\, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand)\, then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; let him who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house; and let him who is in the field not turn back to take his mantle. And alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation\, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now\, no\, and never will be. And if those days had not been shortened\, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. Then if anyone says to you\, ‘Lo\, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders\, so as to lead astray\, if possible\, even the elect. Lo\, I have told you beforehand. So\, if they say to you\, ‘Lo\, he is in the wilderness\,’ do not go out; if they say\, ‘Lo\, he is in the inner rooms\,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west\, so will be the coming of the Son of man. Wherever the body is\, there the eagles will be gathered together. Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened\, and the moon will not give its light\, and the stars will fall from heaven\, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven\, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn\, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory; and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call\, and they will gather his elect from the four winds\, from one end of heaven to the other.\n From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves\, you know that summer is near. So also\, when you see all these things\, you know that he is near\, at the very gates. Truly\, I say to you\, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away\, but my words will not pass away.”

DESCRIPTION:Άγιοι\, εορταί\, και Αναγνώσεις – Κυριακή\, 13 Απριλίου 2025\nΆγιοι και εορταί: Κυριακή των Βαῒων; Μαρτίνου\, Πάπα Ρώμης\, του Ομολογητού; Θεοδόσιος ο Μάρτυρας; Ζωΐλος ο Μάρτυρας\nΗμέρα Νηστείας (Κατάλυσις ιχθύος\, ελαίου και οίνου)\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου Όρθρου: Κατά Ματθαίον 21:1-11\, 15-17\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, ότε ήγγισαν εις ῾Ιεροσόλυμα και ήλθον εις Βηθσφαγή πρός το όρος των ελαιών\, τότε ο ᾿Ιησούς απέστειλε δύο μαθητάςλέγων αυτοίς· πορεύθητε εις την κώμην την απέναντι υμών\, και ευθέως ευρήσετε όνον δεδεμένην και πώλον μετ᾿ αυτής· λύσαντες αγάγετέ μοι. και εάν τις υμίν είπη τι\, ερείτε ότι ο Κύριος αυτών χρείαν έχει· ευθέως δε αποστέλλει αυτούς. τούτο δε όλον γέγονεν ίνα πληρωθή το ρηθέν διά του προφήτου λέγοντος· είπατε τη θυγατρί Σιών\, ιδού ο βασιλεύς σου έρχεταί σοιπραῢς και επιβεβηκώς επί όνονκαί πώλον υιόν υποζυγίου. πορευθέντες δε οι μαθηταί και ποιήσαντες καθώς προσέταξεν αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς\, ήγαγον την όνον και τον πώλον\, και επέθηκαν επάνω αυτών τα ιμάτια αυτών\, και επεκάθισεν επάνω αυτών. ο δε πλείστος όχλος έστρωσαν εαυτών τα ιμάτια εν τη οδώ\, άλλοι δε έκοπτον κλάδους από των δένδρων και εστρώννυον εν τη οδώ. οι δε όχλοι οι προάγοντες και οι ακολουθούντες έκραζον λέγοντες· ωσαννά τω υιώ Δαυΐδ· ευλογημένος ο ερχόμενος εν ονόματι Κυρίου· ωσαννά εν τοις υψίστοις. και εισελθόντος αυτού εις ῾Ιεροσόλυμα εσείσθη πάσα η πόλις λέγουσα· τίς εστιν ούτος; οι δε όχλοι έλεγον· ούτός έστιν ᾿Ιησούς ο προφήτης ο από Ναζαρέτ της Γαλιλαίας. ιδόντες δε οι αρχιερείς και οι γραμματείς τα θαυμάσια ά εποίησε και τους παίδας κράζοντας εν τω ιερώ και λέγοντας\, ωσαννά τω υιώ Δαυΐδ\, ηγανάκτησανκαί είπον αυτώ· ακούεις τί ούτοι λέγουσιν; ο δε ᾿Ιησούς λέγει αυτοίς· ναί· ουδέποτε ανέγνωτε ότι εκ στόματος νηπίων και θηλαζόντων κατηρτίσω αίνον; και καταλιπών αυτούς εξήλθεν έξω της πόλεως εις Βηθανίαν και ηυλίσθη εκεί.\nΑνάγνωσις Επιστολής: Φιλιπ. 4:4-9\nΑδελφοί\, χαίρετε εν κυρίω πάντοτε· πάλιν ερώ\, χαίρετε. Το επιεικές υμών γνωσθήτω πάσιν ανθρώποις. Ο κύριος εγγύς. Μηδέν μεριμνάτε\, αλλʼ εν παντί τη προσευχή και τη δεήσει μετά ευχαριστίας τα αιτήματα υμών γνωριζέσθω πρός τον θεόν. Και η ειρήνη του θεού η υπερέχουσα πάντα νούν\, φρουρήσει τάς καρδίας υμών και τα νοήματα υμών εν Χριστώ Ιησού. Το λοιπόν\, αδελφοί\, όσα εστίν αληθή\, όσα σεμνά\, όσα δίκαια\, όσα αγνά\, όσα προσφιλή\, όσα εύφημα\, ει τις αρετή και ει τις έπαινος\, ταύτα λογίζεσθε. Ά και εμάθετε και παρελάβετε και ηκούσατε και είδετε εν εμοί\, ταύτα πράσσετε· και ο θεός της ειρήνης έσται μεθʼ υμών.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ιωάννην 12:1-18\nΠρό έξ ημερών του πάσχα ήλθεν Ο ᾿Ιησούς εις Βηθανίαν\, όπου ήν Λάζαρος ο τεθνηκώς\, όν ήγειρεν εκ νεκρών. εποίησαν ούν αυτώ δείπνον εκεί\, και η Μάρθα διηκόνει· ο δε Λάζαρος εις ήν των ανακειμένων σύν αυτώ. η ούν Μαρία\, λαβούσα λίτραν μύρου νάρδου πιστικής πολυτίμου\, ήλειψε τους πόδας του ᾿Ιησού και εξέμαξε ταις θριξίν αυτής τους πόδας αυτού· η δε οικία επληρώθη εκ της οσμής του μύρου. λέγει ούν εις εκ των μαθητών αυτού\, ᾿Ιούδας Σίμωνος ᾿Ισκαριώτης\, ο μέλλων αυτόν παραδιδόναι· διατί τούτο το μύρον ουκ επράθη τριακοσίων δηναρίων και εδόθη πτωχοίς; είπε δε τούτο ουχ ότι περί των πτωχών έμελεν αυτώ\, αλλ᾽ ότι κλέπτης ήν\, και το γλωσσόκομον είχε και τα βαλλόμενα εβάσταζεν. είπεν ούν ο ᾿Ιησούς· άφες αυτήν\, εις την ημέραν του ενταφιασμού μου τετήρηκεν αυτό. τούς πτωχούς γαρ πάντοτε έχετε μεθ᾽ εαυτών\, εμέ δε ου πάντοτε έχετε.\n῎Εγνω ούν όχλος πολύς εκ των ᾿Ιουδαίων ότι εκεί εστι\, και ήλθον ου διά τον ᾿Ιησούν μόνον\, αλλ᾽ ίνα και τον Λάζαρον ίδωσιν όν ήγειρεν εκ νεκρών. εβουλεύσαντο δε οι αρχιερείς ίνα και τον Λάζαρον αποκτείνωσιν\, ότι πολλοί δι᾽ αυτόν υπήγον των ᾿Ιουδαίων και επίστευον εις τον ᾿Ιησούν.\nΤη επαύριον όχλος πολύς ο ελθών εις την εορτήν\, ακούσαντες ότι έρχεται ᾿Ιησούς εις ῾Ιεροσόλυμα\, έλαβον τα βαΐα των φοινίκων και εξήλθον εις υπάντησιν αυτώ\, και έκραζον· ωσαννά\, ευλογημένος ο ερχόμενος εν ονόματι Κυρίου\, ο βασιλεύς του ᾿Ισραήλ. ευρών δε ο ᾿Ιησούς ονάριον εκάθισεν επ᾽ αυτό\, καθώς εστι γεγραμμένον· μή φοβού\, θύγατερ Σιών· ιδού ο βασιλεύς σου έρχεται καθήμενος επί πώλον όνου.\nΤαύτα δε ουκ έγνωσαν οι μαθηταί αυτού το πρώτον\, αλλ᾽ ότε εδοξάσθη ο ᾿Ιησούς\, τότε εμνήσθησαν ότι ταύτα ήν επ᾽ αυτώ γεγραμμένα\, και ταύτα εποίησαν αυτώ. ᾿Εμαρτύρει ούν ο όχλος ο ών μετ᾽ αυτού ότε τον Λάζαρον εφώνησεν εκ του μνημείου και ήγειρεν αυτόν εκ νεκρών. διά τούτο και υπήντησεν αυτώ ο όχλος\, ότι ήκουσαν τούτο αυτόν πεποιηκέναι το σημείον.

If any one says anything to you\, you shall say\, ‘The Lord has need of them\,’ and he will send them immediately.” This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet\, saying\,\n“Tell the daughter of Zion\,\nBehold\, your king is coming to you\,\nhumble and mounted on a donkey\,\nand on a colt\, the foal of a donkey.”\nThe disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; they brought the donkey and the colt\, and put their garments on them\, and he sat thereon. Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road\, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him shouted\, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” And when he entered Jerusalem\, all the city was stirred\, saying\, “Who is this?” And the crowds said\, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee.” But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did\, and the children crying out in the temple\, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant; and they said to him\, “Do you hear what they are saying?” And Jesus said to them\, “Yes; have you never read\,\n‘Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings\,\nyou have brought perfect praise’?”\nAnd leaving them\, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there.\nEpistle Reading: Philippians 4:4-9\nBRETHREN\, rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say\, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything\, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God\, which passes all understanding\, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me\, do; and the God of peace will be with you.\nGospel Reading: John 12:1-18\nSix days before Passover\, Jesus came to Bethany\, where Lazaros was\, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; Martha served\, and Lazaros was one of those at table with him. Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. But Judas Iscariot\, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him)\, said “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” This he said\, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief\, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. Jesus said\, “Let her alone\, let her keep it for the day of my burial. The poor you always have with you\, but you do not always have me.”\n When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there\, they came\, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Lazaros\, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests planned to put Lazaros also to death\, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.\n The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him\, crying\, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord\, even the King of Israel!” And Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it; as it is written\, “Fear not\, daughter of Zion; behold\, your king is coming\, sitting on a donkey’s colt!” His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified\, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazaros out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.

Ιησούς Χριστός χθές και σήμερον ο αυτός\, και εις τους αιώνας.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ιωάννην 11:1-45\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, ήν δέ τις ασθενών Λάζαρος από Βηθανίας\, εκ της κώμης Μαρίας και Μάρθας της αδελφής αυτής. ήν δε Μαρία η αλείψασα τον Κύριον μύρω και εκμάξασα τους πόδας αυτού ταις θριξίν αυτής\, ής ο αδελφός Λάζαρος ησθένει. απέστειλαν ούν αι αδελφαί πρός αυτόν λέγουσαι· Κύριε\, ίδε όν φιλείς ασθενεί. ακούσας δε ο ᾿Ιησούς είπεν· αύτη η ασθένεια ουκ έστι πρός θάνατον\, αλλ᾽ υπέρ της δόξης του Θεού\, ίνα δοξασθή ο υιός του Θεού δι᾽ αυτής. ηγάπα δε ο ᾿Ιησούς την Μάρθαν και την αδελφήν αυτής και τον Λάζαρον. ως ούν ήκουσεν ότι ασθενεί\, τότε μέν έμεινεν εν ώ ήν τόπω δύο ημέρας· έπειτα μετά τούτο λέγει τοις μαθηταίς· άγωμεν εις την ᾿Ιουδαίαν πάλιν. λέγουσιν αυτώ οι μαθηταί· ραββί\, νύν εζήτουν σε λιθάσαι οι ᾿Ιουδαίοι\, και πάλιν υπάγεις εκεί; απεκρίθη ᾿Ιησούς· ουχί δώδεκά εισιν ώραι της ημέρας; εάν τις περιπατή εν τη ημέρα\, ου προσκόπτει\, ότι το φώς του κόσμου τούτου βλέπει· εάν δέ τις περιπατή εν τη νυκτί\, προσκόπτει\, ότι το φώς ουκ έστιν εν αυτώ. ταύτα είπε\, και μετά τούτο λέγει αυτοίς· Λάζαρος ο φίλος ημών κεκοίμηται· αλλά πορεύομαι ίνα εξυπνίσω αυτόν. είπον ούν οι μαθηταί αυτού· Κύριε\, ει κεκοίμηται\, σωθήσεται. ειρήκει δε ο ᾿Ιησούς περί του θανάτου αυτού· εκείνοι δε έδοξαν ότι περί της κοιμήσεως του ύπνου λέγει. τότε ούν είπεν αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς παρρησία· Λάζαρος απέθανε\, καί χαίρω δι᾽ υμάς\, ίνα πιστεύσητε\, ότι ουκ ήμην εκεί· αλλ᾽ άγωμεν πρός αυτόν. είπεν ούν Θωμάς ο λεγόμενος Δίδυμος τοις συμμαθηταίς· άγωμεν και ημείς ίνα αποθάνωμεν μετ᾽ αυτού.\n᾿Ελθών ούν ο ᾿Ιησούς εύρεν αυτόν τέσσαρας ημέρας ήδη έχοντα εν τω μνημείω. ήν δε η Βηθανία εγγύς των ῾Ιεροσολύμων ως από σταδίων δεκαπέντε\, καί πολλοί εκ των ᾿Ιουδαίων εληλύθεισαν πρός τάς περί Μάρθαν και Μαρίαν ίνα παραμυθήσωνται αυτάς περί του αδελφού αυτών. η ούν Μάρθα ως ήκουσεν ότι ο ᾿Ιησούς έρχεται\, υπήντησεν αυτώ· Μαρία δε εν τω οίκω εκαθέζετο. είπεν ούν η Μάρθα πρός τον ᾿Ιησούν· Κύριε\, ει ής ώδε\, ο αδελφός μου ουκ άν ετεθνήκει. αλλά και νύν οίδα ότι όσα άν αιτήση τον Θεόν\, δώσει σοι ο Θεός. λέγει αυτή ο ᾿Ιησούς· αναστήσεται ο αδελφός σου. λέγει αυτώ Μάρθα· οίδα ότι αναστήσεται εν τη αναστάσει εν τη εσχάτη ημέρα. είπεν αυτή ο ᾿Ιησούς· εγώ ειμι η ανάστασις και η ζωή. ο πιστεύων εις εμέ\, κάν αποθάνη\, ζήσεται· και πάς ο ζών και πιστεύων εις εμέ ου μή αποθάνη εις τον αιώνα. πιστεύεις τούτο; λέγει αυτώ· ναί\, Κύριε\, εγώ πεπίστευκα ότι σύ ει ο Χριστός ο υιός του Θεού ο εις τον κόσμον ερχόμενος. καί ταύτα ειπούσα απήλθε και εφώνησε Μαρίαν την αδελφήν αυτής λάθρα ειπούσα· ο διδάσκαλος πάρεστι και φωνεί σε. εκείνη ως ήκουσεν\, εγείρεται ταχύ και έρχεται πρός αυτόν. ούπω δε εληλύθει ο ᾿Ιησούς εις την κώμην\, αλλ᾽ ήν εν τω τόπω όπου υπήντησεν αυτώ η Μάρθα. οι ούν ᾿Ιουδαίοι οι όντες μετ᾽ αυτής εν τη οικία και παραμυθούμενοι αυτήν\, ιδόντες την Μαρίαν ότι ταχέως ανέστη και εξήλθεν\, ηκολούθησαν αυτή\, λέγοντες ότι υπάγει εις το μνημείον ίνα κλαύση εκεί. η ούν Μαρία ως ήλθεν όπου ήν ο ᾿Ιησούς\, ιδούσα αυτόν έπεσεν αυτού εις τους πόδας λέγουσα αυτώ· Κύριε\, ει ής ώδε\, ουκ άν απέθανέ μου ο αδελφός. ᾿Ιησούς ούν ως είδεν αυτήν κλαίουσαν και τους συνελθόντας αυτή ᾿Ιουδαίους κλαίοντας\, ενεβριμήσατο τω πνεύματι και ετάραξεν εαυτόν\, καί είπε· πού τεθείκατε αυτόν; λέγουσιν αυτώ· Κύριε\, έρχου και ίδε. εδάκρυσεν ο ᾿Ιησούς. έλεγον ούν οι ᾿Ιουδαίοι· ίδε πώς εφίλει αυτόν· τινές δε εξ αυτών είπον· ουκ ηδύνατο ούτος\, ο ανοίξας τους οφθαλμούς του τυφλού\, ποιήσαι ίνα και ούτος μή αποθάνη; ᾿Ιησούς ούν\, πάλιν εμβριμώμενος εν εαυτώ\, έρχεται εις το μνημείον· ήν δε σπήλαιον\, και λίθος επέκειτο επ᾽ αυτώ. λέγει ο ᾿Ιησούς· άρατε τον λίθον. λέγει αυτώ η αδελφή του τεθνηκότος Μάρθα· Κύριε\, ήδη όζει· τεταρταίος γάρ εστι. λέγει αυτή ο ᾿Ιησούς· ουκ είπόν σοι ότι εάν πιστεύσης\, όψει την δόξαν του Θεού; ήραν ούν τον λίθον ού ήν ο τεθνηκώς κείμενος. ο δε ᾿Ιησούς ήρε τους οφθαλμούς άνω και είπε· πάτερ\, ευχαριστώ σοι ότι ήκουσάς μου. εγώ δε ᾔδειν ότι πάντοτέ μου ακούεις· αλλά διά τον όχλον τον περιεστώτα είπον\, ίνα πιστεύσωσιν ότι σύ με απέστειλας. καί ταύτα ειπών φωνή μεγάλη εκραύγασε· Λάζαρε\, δεύρο έξω. καί εξήλθεν ο τεθνηκώς δεδεμένος τους πόδας και τάς χείρας κειρίαις\, και η όψις αυτού σουδαρίω περιεδέδετο. λέγει αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς· λύσατε αυτόν και άφετε υπάγειν. Πολλοί ούν εκ των ᾿Ιουδαίων\, οι ελθόντες πρός την Μαρίαν και θεασάμενοι ά εποίησεν ο ᾿Ιησούς\, επίστευσαν εις αυτόν.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever.\nGospel Reading: John 11:1-45\nAt that time\, a certain man was ill\, Lazaros of Bethany\, from the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair\, whose brother Lazaros was ill. So the sisters sent to him\, saying\, “Lord\, he whom you love is ill.” But when Jesus heard it he said\, “This illness is not unto death; it is for the glory of God\, so that the Son of God may be glorified by means of it.”\n Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazaros. So when he heard that he was ill\, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. Then after this he said to the disciples\, “Let us go into Judea again.” The disciples said to him\, “Rabbi\, the Jews were but now seeking to stone you\, and are you going there again?” Jesus answered\, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any one walks in the day\, he does not stumble\, because he sees the light of this world. But if any one walks in the night\, he stumbles\, because the light is not in him.” Thus he spoke\, and then he said to them\, “Our friend Lazaros has fallen asleep\, but I go to awake him out of sleep.” The disciples said to him\, “Lord\, if he has fallen asleep\, he will recover.” Now Jesus had spoken of his death\, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep. Then Jesus told them plainly\, “Lazaros is dead; and for your sake I am glad that I was not there\, so that you may believe. Bethany was near Jerusalem\, about two miles off\, and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming\, she went and met him\, while Mary sat in the house. Martha said to Jesus\, “Lord\, if you had been here\, my brother would not have died. And even now I know that whatever you ask from God\, God will give you.” Jesus said to her\, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him\, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her\, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me\, though he die\, yet shall he live\, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him\, “Yes\, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ\, the Son of God\, he who is coming into the world.”\n When she had said this\, she went and called her sister Mary\, saying quietly\, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” And when she heard it\, she rose quickly and went to him. So the Jews said\, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said\, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”\n Then Jesus\, deeply moved again\, came to the tomb; it was a cave\, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said\, “Take away the stone.” Martha\, the sister of the dead man\, said to him\, “Lord\, by this time there will be an odor\, for he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her\, “Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said\, “Father\, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you have heard me always\, but I have said this on account of the people standing by\, that they may believe that you did send me.” When he had said this\, he cried with a loud voice\, “Lazaros\, come out.” The dead man came out\, his hands and feet bound with bandages\, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them\, “Unbind him\, and let him go.” Many of the Jews therefore\, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did\, believed in him.

49:33-50:26\nΚαι κατέπαυσεν ᾿Ιακώβ επιτάσσων τοις υιοίς αυτού και εξάρας τους πόδας αυτού επί την κλίνην εξέλιπε και προσετέθη πρός τον λαόν αυτού.ΚΑΙ επιπεσών ᾿Ιωσήφ επί πρόσωπον του πατρός αυτού\, έκλαυσεν αυτόν και εφίλησεν αυτόν. και προσέταξεν ᾿Ιωσήφ τοις παισίν αυτού τοις ενταφιασταίς ενταφιάσαι τον πατέρα αυτού\, και ενεταφίασαν οι ενταφιασταί τον ᾿Ισραήλ. και επλήρωσαν αυτού τεσσαράκοντα εύρον χάριν εναντίον υμών λαλήσατε περί εμού εις τα ώτα Φαραώ λέγοντες· ο πατήρ μου ώρκισέ με λέγων· εν τω μνημείω ώ ώρυξα εμαυτώ εν γή Χαναάν\, εκεί με θάψεις· νύν ούν αναβάς θάψω τον πατέρα μου και επανελεύσομαι. και είπε Φαραώ τω ᾿Ιωσήφ· ανάβηθι\, θάψον τον πατέρα σου\, καθάπερ ώρκισέ σε. και ανέβη ᾿Ιωσήφ θάψαι τον πατέρα αυτού\, και συνανέβησαν μετ᾿ αυτού πάντες οι παίδες Φαραώ και οι πρεσβύτεροι του οίκου αυτού και πάντες οι πρεσβύτεροι της γής Αιγύπτου. και πάσα η πανοικία ᾿Ιωσήφ και οι αδελφοί αυτού και πάσα η οικία η πατρική αυτού\, και την συγγένειαν αυτού και τα πρόβατα και τους βόας υπελίποντο εν γή Γεσέμ. και συνανέβησαν μετ᾿ αυτού και άρματα και ιππείς\, και εγένετο η παρεμβολή μεγάλη σφόδρα. και παρεγένοντο εις άλωνα ᾿Ατάδ\, ό εστι πέραν του ᾿Ιορδάνου\, και εκόψαντο αυτόν κοπετόν μέγαν και ισχυρόν σφόδρα· και εποίησε το πένθος τω πατρί αυτού επτά ημέρας. και είδον οι κάτοικοι της γής Χαναάν το πένθος επί άλωνι ᾿Ατάδ και είπαν· πένθος μέγα τούτό εστι τοις Αιγυπτίοις· διά τούτο εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Πένθος Αιγύπτου\, ό εστι πέραν του ᾿Ιορδάνου. και εποίησαν αυτώ ούτως οι υιοί αυτού και ανέλαβον αυτόν οι υιοί αυτού εις γήν Χαναάν και έθαψαν αυτόν εις το σπήλαιον το διπλούν\, ό εκτήσατο ῾Αβραάμ το σπήλαιον εν κτήσει μνημείου παρά ᾿Εφρών του Χετταίου\, κατέναντι Μαμβρή. και υπέστρεψεν ᾿Ιωσήφ εις Αίγυπτον\, αυτός και οι αδελφοί αυτού και οι συναναβάντες θάψαι τον πατέρα αυτού. ᾿Ιδόντες δε οι αδελφοί ᾿Ιωσήφ ότι τέθνηκεν ο πατήρ αυτών\, είπαν· μή ποτε μνησικακήση ημίν ᾿Ιωσήφ και ανταπόδομα ανταποδώ ημίν πάντα τα κακά\, ά ενεδειξάμεθα εις αυτόν. και παραγενόμενοι πρός ᾿Ιωσήφ είπαν· ο πατήρ σου ώρκισε πρό του τελευτήσαι αυτόν λέγων· ούτως είπατε ᾿Ιωσήφ· άφες αυτοίς την αδικίαν καί την αμαρτίαν αυτών\, ότι πονηρά σοι ενεδείξαντο· και νύν δέξαι την αδικίαν των θεραπόντων του Θεού του πατρός σου. και έκλαυσεν ᾿Ιωσήφ λαλούντων αυτών πρός αυτόν. και ελθόντες πρός αυτόν είπαν· οίδε ημείς σοί ικέται. και είπεν αυτοίς ᾿Ιωσήφ· μή φοβείσθε\, του γαρ Θεού ειμι εγώ. υμείς εβουλεύσασθε κατ᾿ εμού εις πονηρά\, ο δε Θεός εβουλεύσατο περί εμού εις αγαθά\, όπως άν γενηθή ως σήμερον και τραφή λαός πολύς. και είπεν αυτοίς· μή φοβείσθε· εγώ διαθρέψω υμάς και τάς οικίας υμών. και παρεκάλεσεν αυτούς και ελάλησεν αυτών εις την καρδίαν.\n Και κατῴκησεν ᾿Ιωσήφ εν Αιγύπτω\, αυτός και οι αδελφοί αυτού και πάσα η πανοικία του πατρός αυτού. και έζησεν ᾿Ιωσήφ έτη εκατόν δέκα. και είδεν ᾿Ιωσήφ ᾿Εφραΐμ παιδία έως τρίτης γενεάς\, και οι υιοί Μαχείρ του υιού Μανασσή ετέχθησαν επί μηρών ᾿Ιωσήφ. και είπεν ᾿Ιωσήφ τοις αδελφοίς αυτού λέγων· εγώ αποθνήσκω· επισκοπή επισκοπή\, ή επισκέψηται ο Θεός υμάς\, και συνανοίσετε τα οστά μου εντεύθεν μεθ᾿ υμών. και ετελεύτησεν ᾿Ιωσήφ ετών εκατόν δέκα· και έθαψαν αυτόν και έθηκαν εν τη σορώ εν Αιγύπτω.\nΑνάγνωσις Παλαιᾱς Διαθήκης: Παροιμίαι 31:8-31\nάνοιγε σόν στόμα λόγω θεού και κρίνε πάντας υγιώς.  άνοιγε σόν στόμα και κρίνε δικαίως διάκρινε δε πένητα και ασθενή.  γυναίκα ανδρείαν τις ευρήσει τιμιωτέρα δε εστιν λίθων πολυτελών η τοιαύτη.  θαρσεί επ’ αυτή η καρδία του ανδρός αυτής η τοιαύτη καλών σκύλων ουκ απορήσει. ενεργεί γαρ τω ανδρί αγαθά πάντα τον βίον.  μηρυομένη έρια και λίνον εποίησεν εύχρηστον ταις χερσίν αυτής.  εγένετο ωσεί ναύς εμπορευομένη μακρόθεν συνάγει δε αύτη τον βίον.  και ανίσταται εκ νυκτών και έδωκεν βρώματα τω οίκω και έργα ταις θεραπαίναις.  θεωρήσασα γεώργιον επρίατο από δε καρπών χειρών αυτής κατεφύτευσεν κτήμα.  αναζωσαμένη ισχυρώς την οσφύν αυτής ήρεισεν τους βραχίονας αυτής εις έργον.  εγεύσατο ότι καλόν εστιν το εργάζεσθαι και ουκ αποσβέννυται όλην την νύκτα ο λύχνος αυτής.  τους πήχεις αυτής εκτείνει επί τα συμφέροντα τάς δε χείρας αυτής ερείδει εις άτρακτον.  χείρας δε αυτής διήνοιξεν πένητι καρπόν δε εξέτεινεν πτωχώ.  ου φροντίζει των εν οίκω ο ανήρ αυτής όταν που χρονίζη πάντες γαρ οι παρ’ αυτής ενδιδύσκονται.  δισσάς χλαίνας εποίησεν τω ανδρί αυτής εκ δε βύσσου και πορφύρας εαυτή ενδύματα.  περίβλεπτος δε γίνεται εν πύλαις ο ανήρ αυτής ηνίκα άν καθίση εν συνεδρίω μετά των γερόντων κατοίκων της γής.  σινδόνας εποίησεν και απέδοτο περιζώματα δε τοις χαναναίοις.  στόμα αυτής διήνοιξεν προσεχόντως και εννόμως και τάξιν εστείλατο τη γλώσση αυτής.  ισχύν και ευπρέπειαν ενεδύσατο και ευφράνθη εν ημέραις εσχάταις.  στεγναί διατριβαί οίκων αυτής σίτα δε οκνηρά ουκ έφαγεν.  το στόμα δε ανοίγει σοφώς και νομοθέσμως η δε ελεημοσύνη αυτής ανέστησεν τα τέκνα αυτής και επλούτησαν και ο ανήρ αυτής ᾔνεσεν αυτήν.  πολλαί θυγατέρες εκτήσαντο πλούτον πολλαί εποίησαν δυνατά σύ δε υπέρκεισαι και υπερήρας πάσας.  ψευδείς αρέσκειαι και μάταιον κάλλος γυναικός γυνή γαρ συνετή ευλογείται φόβον δε κυρίου αύτη αινείτω.  δότε αυτή από καρπών χειρών αυτής και αινείσθω εν πύλαις ο ανήρ αυτής .

Why have we humbled ourselves\, and thou takest no knowledge of it?’ Behold\, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure\, and oppress all your workers.  Behold\, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high. When the report was heard in Pharaoh’s house\, “Joseph’s brothers have come\,” it pleased Pharaoh and his servants well.\nOld Testament Reading: Proverbs 21:23-22:4\nHe who keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.  “Scoffer” is the name of the proud\, haughty man who acts with arrogant pride.  The desire of the sluggard kills him for his hands refuse to labor.  All day long the wicked covets\, but the righteous gives and does not hold back.  The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; how much more when he brings it with evil intent.  A false witness will perish\, but the word of a man who hears will endure.  A wicked man puts on a bold face\, but an upright man considers his ways.  No wisdom\, no understanding\, no counsel\, can avail against the LORD.  The horse is made ready for the day of battle\, but the victory belongs to the LORD.  A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches\, and favor is better than silver or gold.  The rich and the poor meet together; the LORD is the maker of them all.  A prudent man sees danger and hides himself; but the simple go on\, and suffer for it.  The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life.
