Και αποστέλλουσιν αυτώ τους μαθητάς αυτών μετά των Ηρωδιανών λέγοντες· Διδάσκαλε\, οίδαμεν ότι αληθής ει και την οδόν του Θεού εν αληθεία διδάσκεις\, και ου μέλει σοι περί ουδενός· ου γαρ βλέπεις εις πρόσωπον ανθρώπου· ειπέ ούν ημίν\, τί σοι δοκεί; Έξεστι δούναι κήνσον Καίσαρι ή ού· Γνούς δε ο Ιησούς την πονηρίαν αυτών είπε· Τί με πειράζετε\, υποκριταί;  Επιδείξατέ μοι το νόμισμα του κήνσου. Οι δε προσήνεγκαν αυτώ δηνάριον. Και λέγει αυτοίς· Τίνος η εικών αύτη και η επιγραφή;  Λέγουσιν αυτώ· Καίσαρος· Τότε λέγει αυτοίς· Απόδοτε ούν τα Καίσαρος Καίσαρι και τα του Θεού τω Θεώ. Και ακούσαντες εθαύμασαν\, και αφέντες αυτόν απήλθον. Εν εκείνη τη ημέρα προσήλθον αυτώ Σαδδουκαίοι\, οι λέγοντες μή είναι ανάστασιν\, και επηρώτησαν αυτόν λέγοντες· Διδάσκαλε\, Μωσής είπεν\, «εάν τις αποθάνη μή έχων τέκνα\, επιγαμβρεύσει ο αδελφός αυτού την γυναίκα αυτού και αναστήσει σπέρμα τω αδελφώ αυτού».  ήσαν δε παρ’ ημίν επτά αδελφοί· και ο πρώτος γαμήσας ετελεύτησε\, και μή έχων σπέρμα αφήκε την γυναίκα αυτού τω αδελφώ αυτού· ομοίως και ο δεύτερος και ο τρίτος\, έως των επτά.  ύστερον δε πάντων απέθανε και η γυνή.  Εν τη ούν αναστάσει τίνος των επτά έσται η γυνή; Πάντες γαρ έσχον αυτήν. Αποκριθείς δε ο Ιησούς είπεν αυτοίς· Πλανάσθε μή ειδότες τάς γραφάς μηδέ την δύναμιν του Θεού· Εν γαρ τη αναστάσει ούτε γαμούσιν ούτε εκγαμίζονται\, αλλ’ ως άγγελοι Θεού εν ουρανώ εισι. Περί δε της αναστάσεως των νεκρών ουκ ανέγνωτε το ρηθέν υμίν υπό του Θεού λέγοντος\, εγώ ειμι ο Θεός Αβραάμ και ο Θεός Ισαάκ και ο Θεός Ιακώβ; Ουκ έστιν ο Θεός Θεός νεκρών\, αλλά ζώντων. Και ακούσαντες οι όχλοι εξεπλήσσοντο επί τη διδαχή αυτού. Οι δε Φαρισαίοι ακούσαντες ότι εφίμωσε τους Σαδδουκαίους\, συνήχθησαν επί το αυτό\, και επηρώτησεν εις εξ αυτών\, νομικός\, πειράζων αυτόν και λέγων· Διδάσκαλε\, ποία εντολή μεγάλη εν τω νόμω; ῾Ο δε Ιησούς έφη αυτώ· Αγαπήσεις Κύριον τον Θεόν σου εν όλη τη καρδία σου και εν όλη τη ψυχή σου και εν όλη τη διανοία σου· αύτη εστί πρώτη και μεγάλη εντολή. Δευτέρα δε ομοία αυτή· αγαπήσεις τον πλησίον σου ως σεαυτόν. Εν ταύταις ταις δυσίν εντολαίς όλος ο νόμος και οι προφήται κρέμανται. Συνηγμένων δε των Φαρισαίων επηρώτησεν αυτούς ο Ιησούς λέγων· Τί υμίν δοκεί περί του Χριστού; Τίνος υιός εστι; Λέγουσιν αυτώ· Του Δαυῒδ. Λέγει αυτοίς· Πώς ούν Δαυῒδ εν Πνεύματι Κύριον καλεί αυτόν λέγων\, είπεν ο Κύριος τω Κυρίω μου\, κάθου εκ δεξιών μου έως άν θώ τους εχθρούς σου υποπόδιον των ποδών σου; Ει ούν Δαυῒδ καλεί αυτόν Κύριον\, πώς υιός αυτού εστι; Και ουδείς εδύνατο αυτώ αποκριθήναι λόγον\, ουδέ ετόλμησέ τις απ’ εκείνης της ημέρας επερωτήσαι αυτόν ουκέτι. Τότε ο Ιησούς ελάλησε τοις όχλοις και τοις μαθηταίς αυτού λέγων· Επί της Μωσέως καθέδρας εκάθισαν οι γραμματείς και οι Φαρισαίοι. Πάντα ούν όσα εάν είπωσιν υμίν τηρείν\, τηρείτε και ποιείτε\, κατά δε τα έργα αυτών μή ποιείτε· λέγουσι γάρ\, και ου ποιούσι. Δεσμεύουσιν γαρ φορτία βαρέα και επιτιθέασιν επί τους ώμους των ανθρώπων\, τω δε δακτύλω αυτών ου θέλουσι κινήσαι αυτά. Πάντα δε τα έργα αυτών ποιούσι πρός το θεαθήναι τοις ανθρώποις\, πλατύνουσι γαρ τα φυλακτήρια αυτών και μεγαλύνουσι τα κράσπεδα των ιματίων αυτών\,  φιλούσι δε την πρωτοκλισίαν εν τοις δείπνοις και τάς πρωτοκαθεδρίας εν ταις συναγωγαίς  και τους ασπασμούς εν ταις αγοραίς και καλείσθαι υπό των ανθρώπων\, ραββί ραββί.  υμείς δε μή κληθήτε ραββί· εις γάρ υμών εστιν ο διδάσκαλος\, ο Χριστός· πάντες δε υμείς αδελφοί εστε. Και πατέρα μή καλέσητε υμών επί της γής· εις γάρ εστιν ο πατήρ υμών\, ο εν τοις ουρανοίς. Μηδέ κληθήτε καθηγηταί· εις γάρ υμών εστιν ο καθηγητής\, ο Χριστός. ῾Ο δε μείζων υμών έσται υμών διάκονος. Όστις δε υψώσει εαυτόν ταπεινωθήσεται\, και όστις ταπεινώσει εαυτόν υψωθήσεται. Ουαί δε υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι κατεσθίετε τάς οικίας των χηρών και προφάσει μακρά προσευχόμενοι· διά τούτο λήψεσθε περισσότερον κρίμα. Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι κλείετε την βασιλείαν των ουρανών έμπροσθεν των ανθρώπων· υμείς γαρ ουκ εισέρχεσθε\, ουδέ τους εισερχομένους αφίετε εισελθείν. Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι περιάγετε την θάλασσαν και την ξηράν ποιήσαι ένα προσήλυτον\, και όταν γένηται\, ποιείτε αυτόν υιόν γεέννης διπλότερον υμών. Ουαί υμίν\, οδηγοί τυφλοί\, οι λέγοντες· ός άν ομόση εν τω ναώ\, ουδέν εστιν\, ός δ’ άν ομόση εν τω χρυσώ του ναού οφείλει. Μωροί και τυφλοί! τίς γαρ μείζων εστίν\, ο χρυσός ή ο ναός ο αγιάζων τον χρυσόν; Καί· ός άν ομόση εν τω θυσιαστηρίω\, ουδέν εστιν\, ός δ’ άν ομόση εν τω δώρω τω επάνω αυτού\, οφείλει. Μωροί και τυφλοί! τί γαρ μείζον\, το δώρον ή το θυσιαστήριον το αγιάζον το δώρον; ῾Ο ούν ομόσας εν τω θυσιαστηρίω ομνύει εν αυτώ και εν πάσι τοις επάνω αυτού· Και ο ομόσας εν τω ναώ ομνύει εν αυτώ και εν τω κατοικήσαντι αυτόν·  Και ο ομόσας εν τω ουρανώ ομνύει εν τω θρόνω του Θεού και εν τω καθημένω επάνω αυτού. Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι αποδεκατούτε το ηδύοσμον και το άνηθον και το κύμινον\, και αφήκατε τα βαρύτερα του νόμου\, την κρίσιν και τον έλεον και την πίστιν· ταύτα δε έδει ποιήσαι κακείνα μή αφιέναι. ῾Οδηγοί τυφλοί\, οι διυλίζοντες τον κώνωπα\, την δε κάμηλον καταπίνοντες! Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι καθαρίζετε το έξωθεν του ποτηρίου και της παροψίδος\, έσωθεν δε γέμουσιν εξ αρπαγής και αδικίας. Φαρισαίε τυφλέ\, καθάρισον πρώτον το εντός του ποτηρίου και της παροψίδος\, ίνα γένηται και το εκτός αυτών καθαρόν.  Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι παρομοιάζετε τάφοις κεκονιαμένοις\, οίτινες έξωθεν μέν φαίνονται ωραίοι\, έσωθεν δε γέμουσιν οστέων νεκρών και πάσης ακαθαρσίας. Ούτω και υμείς έξωθεν μέν φαίνεσθε τοις ανθρώποις δίκαιοι\, έσωθεν δέ μεστοί εστε υποκρίσεως και ανομίας. Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι οικοδομείτε τους τάφους των προφητών και κοσμείτε τα μνημεία των δικαίων\, και λέγετε· ει ήμεν εν ταις ημέραις των πατέρων ημών\, ουκ άν ήμεν κοινωνοί αυτών εν τω αίματι των προφητών. Ώστε μαρτυρείτε εαυτοίς &#Ανάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον  24:36-51\, 25:1-46\, 26:1-2\nΕίπεν ο Κυριος τοις εαυτού μαθηταίς· Περί δε της ημέρας εκείνης και ώρας ουδείς οίδεν\, ουδέ οι άγγελοι των ουρανών\, ει μή ο πατήρ μου μόνος. ώσπερ δε αι ημέραι του Νώε\, ούτως έσται και η παρουσία του υιού του ανθρώπου. ώσπερ γαρ ήσαν εν ταις ημέραις ταις πρό του κατακλυσμού τρώγοντες και πίνοντες\, γαμούντες και εκγαμίζοντες\, άχρι ής ημέρας εισήλθε Νώε εις την κιβωτόν\, και ουκ έγνωσαν έως ήλθεν ο κατακλυσμός και ήρεν άπαντας\, ούτως έσται και η παρουσία του υιού του ανθρώπου. τότε δύο έσονται εν τω αγρώ\, ο εις παραλαμβάνεται και ο εις αφίεται· δύο αλήθουσαι εν τω μυλώνι\, μία παραλαμβάνεται και μία αφίεται. γρηγορείτε ούν\, ότι ουκ οίδατε ποία ώρα ο Κύριος υμών έρχεται. ᾿Εκείνο δε γινώσκετε ότι ει ᾔδει ο οικοδεσπότης ποία φυλακή ο κλέπτης έρχεται\, εγρηγόρησεν άν και ουκ άν είασε διορυγήναι την οικίαν αυτού. διά τούτο και υμείς γίνεσθε έτοιμοι\, ότι ή ώρα ου δοκείτε ο υιός του ανθρώπου έρχεται. Τίς άρα εστίν ο πιστός δούλος και φρόνιμος\, όν κατέστησεν ο κύριος αυτού επί της θεραπείας αυτού του διδόναι αυτοίς την τροφήν εν καιρώ; μακάριος ο δούλος εκείνος όν ελθών ο κύριος αυτού ευρήσει ποιούντα ούτως. αμήν λέγω υμίν ότι επί πάσι τοις υπάρχουσιν αυτού καταστήσει αυτόν. εάν δε είπη ο κακός δούλος εκείνος εν τη καρδία αυτού\, χρονίζει ο κύριός μου ελθείν\, και άρξηται τύπτειν τους συνδούλους αυτού\, εσθίη δε και πίνη μετά των μεθυόντων\, ήξει ο κύριος του δούλου εκείνου εν ημέρα ή ου προσδοκά και εν ώρα ή ου γινώσκει\, και διχοτομήσει αυτόν\, και το μέρος αυτού μετά των υποκριτών θήσει· εκεί έσται ο κλαυθμός και ο βρυγμός των οδόντων.\nΤότε ομοιωθήσεται η βασιλεία των ουρανών δέκα παρθένοις\, αίτινες λαβούσαι τάς λαμπάδας αυτών εξήλθον εις απάντησιν του νυμφίου. πέντε δε ήσαν εξ αυτών φρόνιμοι και αι πέντε μωραί. αίτινες μωραί λαβούσαι τάς λαμπάδας εαυτών ουκ έλαβον μεθ᾿ εαυτών έλαιον· αι δε φρόνιμοι έλαβον έλαιον εν τοις αγγείοις αυτών μετά των λαμπάδων αυτών. χρονίζοντος δε του νυμφίου ενύσταξαν πάσαι και εκάθευδον. μέσης δε νυκτός κραυγή γέγονεν· ιδού ο νυμφίος έρχεται\, εξέρχεσθε εις απάντησιν αυτού. τότε ηγέρθησαν πάσαι αι παρθένοι εκείναι και εκόσμησαν τάς λαμπάδας αυτών. αι δε μωραί ταις φρονίμοις είπον· δότε ημίν εκ του ελαίου υμών\, ότι αι λαμπάδες ημών σβέννυνται. απεκρίθησαν δε αι φρόνιμοι λέγουσαι· μήποτε ουκ αρκέση ημίν και υμίν· πορεύεσθε δε μάλλον πρός τους πωλούντας και αγοράσατε εαυταίς. απερχομένων δε αυτών αγοράσαι ήλθεν ο νυμφίος και αι έτοιμοι εισήλθον μετ᾿ αυτού εις τους γάμους\, και εκλείσθη η θύρα. ύστερον δε έρχονται και αι λοιπαί παρθένοι λέγουσαι· κύριε κύριε\, άνοιξον ημίν. ο δε αποκριθείς είπεν· αμήν λέγω υμίν\, ουκ οίδα υμάς. γρηγορείτε ούν\, ότι ουκ οίδατε την ημέραν ουδέ την ώραν εν ή ο υιός του ανθρώπου έρχεται.\n῞Ωσπερ γαρ άνθρωπος αποδημών εκάλεσε τους ιδίους δούλους και παρέδωκεν αυτοίς τα υπάρχοντα αυτού\, καί ώ μέν έδωκε πέντε τάλαντα\, ώ δε δύο\, ώ δε έν\, εκάστω κατά την ιδίαν δύναμιν\, και απεδήμησεν ευθέως. πορευθείς δε ο τα πέντε τάλαντα λαβών ειργάσατο εν αυτοίς και εποίησεν άλλα πέντε τάλαντα. ωσαύτως και ο τα δύο εκέρδησε και αυτός άλλα δύο. ο δε το έν λαβών απελθών ώρυξεν εν τη γή και απέκρυψε το αργύριον του κυρίου αυτού. μετά δε χρόνον πολύν έρχεται ο κύριος των δούλων εκείνων και συναίρει μετ᾿ αυτών λόγον. καί προσελθών ο τα πέντε τάλαντα λαβών προσήνεγκεν άλλα πέντε τάλαντα λέγων· κύριε\, πέντε τάλαντά μοι παρέδωκας· ίδε άλλα πέντε τάλαντα εκέρδησα επ᾿ αυτοίς. έφη αυτώ ο κύριος αυτού· εύ\, δούλε αγαθέ και πιστέ! επί ολίγα ής πιστός\, επί πολλών σε καταστήσω· είσελθε εις την χαράν του κυρίου σου. προσελθών δε και ο τα δύο τάλαντα λαβών είπε· κύριε\, δύο τάλαντά μοι παρέδωκας· ίδε άλλα δύο τάλαντα εκέρδησα επ᾿ αυτοίς. έφη αυτώ ο κύριος αυτού· εύ\, δούλε αγαθέ και πιστέ! επί ολίγα ής πιστός\, επί πολλών σε καταστήσω· είσελθε εις την χαράν του κυρίου σου. προσελθών δε και ο το έν τάλαντον ειληφώς είπε· κύριε· έγνων σε ότι σκληρός ει άνθρωπος\, θερίζων όπου ουκ έσπειρας και συνάγων όθεν ου διεσκόρπισας· καί φοβηθείς απελθών έκρυψα το τάλαντόν σου εν τη γή· ίδε έχεις το σόν. αποκριθείς δε ο κύριος αυτού είπεν αυτώ· πονηρέ δούλε και οκνηρέ! ᾔδεις ότι θερίζω όπου ουκ έσπειρα και συνάγω όθεν ου διεσκόρπισα! έδει ούν σε βαλείν το αργύριόν μου τοις τραπεζίταις\, και ελθών εγώ εκομισάμην άν το εμόν σύν τόκω. άρατε ούν απ᾿ αυτού το τάλαντον και δότε τω έχοντι τα δέκα τάλαντα. τώ γαρ έχοντι παντί δοθήσεται και περισσευθήσεται\, από δε του μή έχοντος και ό έχει αρθήσεται απ᾿ αυτού. καί τον αχρείον δούλον εκβάλετε εις το σκότος το εξώτερον· εκεί έσται ο κλαυθμός και ο βρυγμός των οδόντων.\n῞Οταν δε έλθη ο υιός του ανθρώπου εν τη δόξη αυτού και πάντες οι άγιοι άγγελοι μετ᾿ αυτού\, τότε καθίσει επί θρόνου δόξης αυτού\, καί συναχθήσεται έμπροσθεν αυτού πάντα τα έθνη\, και αφοριεί αυτούς απ᾿ αλλήλων ώσπερ ο ποιμήν αφορίζει τα πρόβατα από των ερίφων\, καί στήσει τα μέν πρόβατα εκ δεξιών αυτού\, τα δε ερίφια εξ ευωνύμων. τότε ερεί ο βασιλεύς τοις εκ δεξιών αυτού· δεύτε οι ευλογημένοι του πατρός μου\, κληρονομήσατε την ητοιμασμένην υμίν βασιλείαν από καταβολής κόσμου. επείνασα γάρ\, και εδώκατέ μοι φαγείν\, εδίψησα\, και εποτίσατέ με\, ξένος ήμην\, και συνηγάγετέ με\, γυμνός\, και περιεβάλετέ με\, ησθένησα\, και επεσκέψασθέ με\, εν φυλακή ήμην\, και ήλθετε πρός με. τότε αποκριθήσονται αυτώ οι δίκαιοι λέγοντες· κύριε\, πότε σε είδομεν πεινώντα και εθρέψαμεν\, ή διψώντα και εποτίσαμεν; πότε δέ σε είδομεν ξένον και συνηγάγομεν\, ή γυμνόν και περιεβάλομεν; πότε δέ σε είδομεν ασθενή ή εν φυλακή\, και ήλθομεν πρός σε; καί αποκριθείς ο βασιλεύς ερεί αυτοίς· αμήν λέγω υμίν\, εφ᾿ όσον εποιήσατε ενί τούτων των αδελφών μου των ελαχίστων\, εμοί εποιήσατε. τότε ερεί και τοις εξ ευωνύμων· πορεύεσθε απ᾿ εμού οι κατηραμένοι εις το πύρ το αιώνιον το ητοιμασμένον τω διαβόλω και τοις αγγέλοις αυτού. επείνασα γάρ\, και ουκ εδώκατέ μοι φαγείν\, εδίψησα\, και ουκ εποτίσατέ με\, ξένος ήμην\, και ου συνηγάγετέ με\, γυμνός\, και ου περιεβάλετέ με\, ασθενής και εν φυλακή\, και ουκ επεσκέψασθέ με. τότε αποκριθή&si

And they sent their disciples to him\, along with the Herodians\, saying\, “Teacher\, we know that you are true\, and teach the way of God truthfully\, and care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men. Tell us\, then\, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar\, or not?” But Jesus\, aware of their malice\, said\, “Why put me to the test\, you hypocrites? Show me the money for the tax.” And they brought him a coin. And Jesus said to them\, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said\, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them\, “Render\, therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s\, and to God the things that are God’s. ” When they heard it\, they marveled; and they left him and went away.\nThe same day the Sadducees came to him\, who say that there is no resurrection; and they asked him a question saying\, “Teacher\, Moses said\, ‘If a man dies\, having no children\, his brother must marry the widow\, and raise up children for his brother.’ Now there were seven brothers among us; the first married\, and died\, and having no children left his wife to his brother. So too the second and third\, down to the seventh. After them all\, the woman died. In the resurrection\, therefore\, to which of the seven will she be wife? For they all had her.”\nBut Jesus answered them\, “You are wrong\, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage\, but are like angels of God in heaven. And as for the resurrection of the dead\, have you not read what was said to you by God\, ‘I am the God of Abraham\, and the God of Isaac\, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead\, but of the living.” And when the crowd heard it\, they were astonished at his teaching.\nBut when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees\, they came together. And one of them\, a lawyer\, asked him a question\, to test him. “Teacher\, which is the great commandment in the law?” And he said to him\, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart\, and with all your soul\, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.”\nNow while the Pharisees were gathered together\, Jesus asked them a question\, saying: “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him\, “The son of David.” He said to them\, “How is it then that David\, inspired by the Spirit\, calls him Lord\, saying\, ‘The Lord said to my Lord\, sit at my right hand\, till I put your enemies under your feet’? If David thus calls him Lord\, how is he his son?” And no one was able to answer him a word\, nor from that day did any one dare to ask him any more questions.\nThen said Jesus to the crowds and to his disciples\, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; so practice and observe whatever they tell you\, but not what they do; for they preach but do not practice. They bind heavy burdens\, hard to bear\, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger. They do all their deeds to be seen by men; for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long\, and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues\, and salutations in the market places\, and being called rabbi by men\, but you are not to be called rabbi\, for you have one teacher\, and you are all brethren. And call no man your father on earth\, for you have one Father\, who is in heaven. Neither be called masters\, for you have one master\, the Christ. He who is greatest among you shall be your servant; whoever exalts himself will be humbled\, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.\n“But woe to you\, scribes and Pharisees\, hypocrites! for you devour widows’ houses and for a pretense you make long prayers; therefore you will receive the greater condemnation. Woe to you\, scribes and Pharisees\, hypocrites! because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither enter yourselves\, nor allow those who would enter to go in. Woe to you\, scribes and Pharisees\, hypocrites! for you traverse sea and land to make a single proselyte\, and when he becomes a proselyte\, you make him twice as much a child of Gehenna as yourselves.\n“Woe to you\, blind guides\, who say\, ‘If any one swears by the temple\, it is nothing; but if any one swears by the gold of the temple\, he is bound by his oath.’ You blind fools! For which is greater\, the gold or the temple that has made the gold sacred? And you say\, ‘If any one swears by the altar\, it is nothing; but if any one swears by the gift that is on the altar\, he is bound by his oath.’ You blind men! For which is greater\, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? So he who swears by the altar\, swears by it and by everything on it; and he who swears by the temple\, swears by it and by him who dwells in it; and he who swears by heaven\, swears by the throne of God and by him who sits upon it.\n“Woe to you\, scribes and Pharisees\, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and dill and cumin\, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law\, justice and mercy and faith; these you ought to have done without neglecting the others. You blind guides\, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! “Woe to you\, scribes and Pharisees\, hypocrites! for you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the plate\, but inside they are full of extortion and rapacity. Woe to you\, scribes and Pharisees\, hypocrites! for you are like white-washed tombs\, which outwardly appear beautiful\, but within they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.’\n“When the Son of man comes in his glory\, and all the angels with him\, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations\, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats\, and he will place the sheep at his right hand\, but the goats at the left. Then the King will say to those at his right hand\, ‘Come\, O blessed of my Father\, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food\, I was thirsty and you gave me drink\, I was a stranger and you welcomed me\, I was naked and you clothed me\, I was sick and you visited me\, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him\, ‘Lord\, when did we see you hungry and feed you\, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you\, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them\, ‘Truly\, I say to you\, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren\, you did it to me.’ Then he will say to those at his left hand\, ‘Depart from me\, you cursed\, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food\, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink\, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me\, naked and you did not clothe me\, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer\, ‘Lord\, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison\, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them\, ‘Truly\, I say to you\, as you did it not to one of the least of these\, you did it not to me.’ And they will go away into eternal punishment\, but the righteous into eternal life.”\nWhen Jesus had finished all these sayings\, he said to his disciples\, “You know that after two days the Passover is coming\, and the Son of man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

και αποκριθείς ο ᾿Ιησούς είπεν αυτοίς· βλέπετε μή τις υμάς πλανήση. πολλοί γαρ ελεύσονται επί τω ονόματί μου λέγοντες\, εγώ ειμι ο Χριστός\, και πολλούς πλανήσουσι. μελλήσετε δε ακούειν πολέμους και ακοάς πολέμων· οράτε μή θροείσθε· δεί γαρ πάντα γενέσθαι\, αλλ᾿ ούπω εστί το τέλος. εγερθήσεται γαρ έθνος επί έθνος και βασιλεία επί βασιλείαν\, και έσονται λιμοί και λοιμοί και σεισμοί κατά τόπους·πάντα δε ταύτα αρχή ωδίνων. τότε παραδώσουσιν υμάς εις θλίψιν και αποκτενούσιν υμάς\, και έσεσθε μισούμενοι υπό πάντων των εθνών διά το όνομά μου. και τότε σκανδαλισθήσονται πολλοί και αλλήλους παραδώσουσι και μισήσουσιν αλλήλους. και πολλοί ψευδοπροφήται εγερθήσονται και πλανήσουσι πολλούς\, και διά το πληθυνθήναι την ανομίαν ψυγήσεται η αγάπη των πολλών. ο δε υπομείνας εις τέλος\, ούτος σωθήσεται. και κηρυχθήσεται τούτο το ευαγγέλιον της βασιλείας εν όλη τη οικουμένη εις μαρτύριον πάσι τοις έθνεσι\, και τότε ήξει το τέλος. ῞Οταν ούν ίδητε το βδέλυγμα της ερημώσεως το ρηθέν διά Διανιήλ του προφήτου εστώς εν τόπω αγίω – ο αναγινώσκων νοείτω – τότε οι εν τη ᾿Ιουδαία φευγέτωσαν επί τα όρη\, ο επί του δώματος μή καταβαινέτω άραι τα εκ της οικίας αυτού\, και ο εν τω αγρώ μή επιστρεψάτω οπίσω άραι τα ιμάτια αυτού. ουαί δε ταις εν γαστρί εχούσαις και ταις θηλαζούσαις εν εκείναις ταις ημέραις. προσεύχεσθε δε ίνα μή γένηται η φυγή υμών χειμώνος μηδέ σαββάτω. έσται γαρ τότε θλίψις μεγάλη\, οία ου γέγονεν απ᾿ αρχής κόσμου έως του νύν ουδ᾿ ου μή γένηται. και ει μή εκολοβώθησαν αι ημέραι εκείναι\, ουκ άν εσώθη πάσα σάρξ· διά δε τους εκλεκτούς κολοβωθήσονται αι ημέραι εκείναι. τότε εάν τις υμίν είπη\, ιδού ώδε ο Χριστός ή ώδε\, μή πιστεύσητε· εγερθήσονται γαρ ψευδόχριστοι και ψευδοπροφήται και δώσουσι σημεία μεγάλα και τέρατα\, ώστε πλανήσαι\, ει δυνατόν\, και τους εκλεκτούς. ιδού προείρηκα υμίν. εάν ούν είπωσιν υμίν\, ιδού εν τη ερήμω εστί\, μή εξέλθητε\, ιδού εν τοις ταμείοις\, μή πιστεύσητε· ώσπερ γαρ η αστραπή εξέρχεται από ανατολών και φαίνεται έως δυσμών\, ούτως έσται και η παρουσία του υιού του ανθρώπου· όπου γαρ εάν ᾖ το πτώμα\, εκεί συναχθήσονται οι αετοί.\nΕυθέως δε μετά την θλίψιν των ημερών εκείνων ο ήλιος σκοτισθήσεταικαί η σελήνη ου δώσει το φέγγος αυτής\, και οι αστέρες πεσούνται από του ουρανού\, και αι δυνάμεις των ουρανών σαλευθήσονται. και τότε φανήσεται το σημείον του υιού του ανθρώπου εν τω ουρανώ\, και τότε κόψονται πάσαι αι φυλαί της γής και όψονται τον υιόν του ανθρώπου ερχόμενον επί των νεφελών του ουρανού μετά δυνάμεως και δόξης πολλής. και αποστελεί τους αγγέλους αυτού μετά σάλπιγγος φωνής μεγάλης\, και επισυνάξουσι τους εκλεκτούς αυτού εκ των τεσσάρων ανέμων απ᾿ άκρων ουρανών έως άκρων αυτών. ᾿Από δε της συκής μάθετε την παραβολήν. όταν ήδη ο κλάδος αυτής γένηται απαλός και τα φύλλα εκφύη\, γινώσκετε ότι εγγύς το θέρος· ούτω και υμείς όταν ίδητε ταύτα πάντα\, γινώσκετε ότι εγγύς εστιν επί θύραις. αμήν λέγω υμίν\, ου μή παρέλθη η γενεά αύτη έως άν πάντα ταύτα γένηται. ο ουρανός και η γή παρελεύσονται\, οι δε λόγοι μου ου μή παρέλθωσι.

Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything\, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Finally\, brethren\, whatever is true\, whatever is honorable\, whatever is just\, whatever is pure\, whatever is lovely\, whatever is gracious\, if there is any excellence\, if there is anything worthy of praise\, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me\, do; and the God of peace will be with you.\nGospel Reading: John 12:1-18\nSix days before Passover\, Jesus came to Bethany\, where Lazaros was\, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; Martha served\, and Lazaros was one of those at table with him. Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. But Judas Iscariot\, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him)\, said “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” This he said\, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief\, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. Jesus said\, “Let her alone\, let her keep it for the day of my burial. The poor you always have with you\, but you do not always have me.”\n When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there\, they came\, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Lazaros\, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests planned to put Lazaros also to death\, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.\n The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him\, crying\, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord\, even the King of Israel!” And Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it; as it is written\, “Fear not\, daughter of Zion; behold\, your king is coming\, sitting on a donkey’s colt!” His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified\, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazaros out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.

Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers\, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison\, as though in prison with them; and those who are ill-treated\, since you also are in the body. Let marriage be held in honor among all\, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the immoral and adulterous. It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair\, whose brother Lazaros was ill. So the sisters sent to him\, saying\, “Lord\, he whom you love is ill.” But when Jesus heard it he said\, “This illness is not unto death; it is for the glory of God\, so that the Son of God may be glorified by means of it.”\n Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazaros. So when he heard that he was ill\, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. Then after this he said to the disciples\, “Let us go into Judea again.” The disciples said to him\, “Rabbi\, the Jews were but now seeking to stone you\, and are you going there again?” Jesus answered\, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any one walks in the day\, he does not stumble\, because he sees the light of this world. Bethany was near Jerusalem\, about two miles off\, and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming\, she went and met him\, while Mary sat in the house. Martha said to Jesus\, “Lord\, if you had been here\, my brother would not have died. And even now I know that whatever you ask from God\, God will give you.” Jesus said to her\, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him\, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her\, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me\, though he die\, yet shall he live\, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him\, “Yes\, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ\, the Son of God\, he who is coming into the world.”\n When she had said this\, she went and called her sister Mary\, saying quietly\, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” And when she heard it\, she rose quickly and went to him. So the Jews said\, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said\, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”\n Then Jesus\, deeply moved again\, came to the tomb; it was a cave\, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said\, “Take away the stone.” Martha\, the sister of the dead man\, said to him\, “Lord\, by this time there will be an odor\, for he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her\, “Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said\, “Father\, I thank you that you have heard me. επισκοπή\, ή επισκέψηται ο Θεός υμάς\, και συνανοίσετε τα οστά μου εντεύθεν μεθ᾿ υμών. και ετελεύτησεν ᾿Ιωσήφ ετών εκατόν δέκα· και έθαψαν αυτόν και έθηκαν εν τη σορώ εν Αιγύπτω.\nΑνάγνωσις Παλαιᾱς Διαθήκης: Παροιμίαι 31:8-31\nάνοιγε σόν στόμα λόγω θεού και κρίνε πάντας υγιώς.  άνοιγε σόν στόμα και κρίνε δικαίως διάκρινε δε πένητα και ασθενή.  γυναίκα ανδρείαν τις ευρήσει τιμιωτέρα δε εστιν λίθων πολυτελών η τοιαύτη.  θαρσεί επ’ αυτή η καρδία του ανδρός αυτής η τοιαύτη καλών σκύλων ουκ απορήσει. ενεργεί γαρ τω ανδρί αγαθά πάντα τον βίον.  μηρυομένη έρια και λίνον εποίησεν εύχρηστον ταις χερσίν αυτής.  εγένετο ωσεί ναύς εμπορευομένη μακρόθεν συνάγει δε αύτη τον βίον.  και ανίσταται εκ νυκτών και έδωκεν βρώματα τω οίκω και έργα ταις θεραπαίναις.  θεωρήσασα γεώργιον επρίατο από δε καρπών χειρών αυτής κατεφύτευσεν κτήμα.  αναζωσαμένη ισχυρώς την οσφύν αυτής ήρεισεν τους βραχίονας αυτής εις έργον.  εγεύσατο ότι καλόν εστιν το εργάζεσθαι και ουκ αποσβέννυται όλην την νύκτα ο λύχνος αυτής.  τους πήχεις αυτής εκτείνει επί τα συμφέροντα τάς δε χείρας αυτής ερείδει εις άτρακτον.  χείρας δε αυτής διήνοιξεν πένητι καρπόν δε εξέτεινεν πτωχώ.  ου φροντίζει των εν οίκω ο ανήρ αυτής όταν που χρονίζη πάντες γαρ οι παρ’ αυτής ενδιδύσκονται.  δισσάς χλαίνας εποίησεν τω ανδρί αυτής εκ δε βύσσου και πορφύρας εαυτή ενδύματα.  περίβλεπτος δε γίνεται εν πύλαις ο ανήρ αυτής ηνίκα άν καθίση εν συνεδρίω μετά των γερόντων κατοίκων της γής.  σινδόνας εποίησεν και απέδοτο περιζώματα δε τοις χαναναίοις.  στόμα αυτής διήνοιξεν προσεχόντως και εννόμως και τάξιν εστείλατο τη γλώσση αυτής.  ισχύν και ευπρέπειαν ενεδύσατο και ευφράνθη εν ημέραις εσχάταις.  στεγναί διατριβαί οίκων αυτής σίτα δε οκνηρά ουκ έφαγεν.  το στόμα δε ανοίγει σοφώς και νομοθέσμως η δε ελεημοσύνη αυτής ανέστησεν τα τέκνα αυτής και επλούτησαν και ο ανήρ αυτής ᾔνεσεν αυτήν.  πολλαί θυγατέρες εκτήσαντο πλούτον πολλαί εποίησαν δυνατά σύ δε υπέρκεισαι και υπερήρας πάσας.  ψευδείς αρέσκειαι και μάταιον κάλλος γυναικός γυνή γαρ συνετή ευλογείται φόβον δε κυρίου αύτη αινείτω.  δότε αυτή από καρπών χειρών αυτής και αινείσθω εν πύλαις ο ανήρ αυτής .

She looks well to the ways of her household\, and does not eat the bread of idleness.  Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also\, and he praises her:  “Many women have done excellently\, but you surpass them all.”  Charm is deceitful\, and beauty is vain\, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.  Give her of the fruit of her hands\, and let her works praise her in the gates.
