Διό γνωρίζω υμίν\, ότι ουδείς εν πνεύματι θεού λαλών λέγει Ανάθεμα Ιησούν· και ουδείς δύναται ειπείν\, Κύριον Ιησούν\, ει μή εν πνεύματι αγίω. Διαιρέσεις δε χαρισμάτων εισίν\, το δε αυτό πνεύμα. Και διαιρέσεις διακονιών εισίν\, και ο αυτός κύριος. Και διαιρέσεις ενεργημάτων εισίν\, ο δε αυτός εστιν θεός\, ο ενεργών τα πάντα εν πάσιν.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον 18:1-11\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, προσήλθον οι μαθηταί τω ᾿Ιησού λέγοντες· τίς άρα μείζων εστίν εν τη βασιλεία των ουρανών; καί προσκαλεσάμενος ο ᾿Ιησούς παιδίον έστησεν αυτό εν μέσω αυτών και είπεν· αμήν λέγω υμίν\, εάν μή στραφήτε και γένησθε ως τα παιδία\, ου μή εισέλθητε εις την βασιλείαν των ουρανών. όστις ούν ταπεινώσει εαυτόν ως το παιδίον τούτο\, ούτός εστιν ο μείζων εν τη βασιλεία των ουρανών. καί ός εάν δέξηται παιδίον τοιούτον έν επί τω ονόματί μου\, εμέ δέχεται· ός δ᾿ άν σκανδαλίση ένα των μικρών τούτων των πιστευόντων εις εμέ\, συμφέρει αυτώ ίνα κρεμασθή μύλος ονικός εις τον τράχηλον αυτού και καταποντισθή εν τω πελάγει της θαλάσσης. Ουαί τω κόσμω από των σκανδάλων· ανάγκη γάρ εστιν ελθείν τα σκάνδαλα· πλήν ουαί τω ανθρώπω εκείνω δι᾿ ού το σκάνδαλον έρχεται. ει δε η χείρ σου ή ο πούς σου σκανδαλίζει σε\, έκκοψον αυτά και βάλε από σού· καλόν σοί εστιν εισελθείν εις την ζωήν χωλόν ή κυλλόν\, ή δύο χείρας ή δύο πόδας έχοντα βληθήναι εις το πύρ το αιώνιον. καί ει ο οφθαλμός σου σκανδαλίζει σε\, έξελε αυτόν και βάλε από σού· καλόν σοί εστι μονόφθαλμον εις την ζωήν εισελθείν\, ή δύο οφθαλμούς έχοντα βληθήναι εις την γέενναν του πυρός. ῾Οράτε μή καταφρονήσητε ενός των μικρών τούτων· λέγω γαρ υμίν ότι οι άγγελοι αυτών εν ουρανοίς διά παντός βλέπουσι το πρόσωπον του πατρός μου του εν ουρανοίς. ήλθε γαρ ο υιός του ανθρώπου σώσαι το απολωλός.

So then\, my brethren\, when you come together to eat\, wait for one another – if any one is hungry\, let him eat at home – lest you come together to be condemned. About the other things I will give directions when I come. Now concerning the spiritual gifts\, brethren\, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were heathen\, you were led astray to dumb idols\, however you may have been moved. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus be cursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts\, but the same spirit; and there are varieties of service\, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of working\, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 18:1-11\nAt that time\, the disciples came to Jesus\, saying\, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child\, he put him in the midst of them and said\, “Truly\, I say to you\, unless you turn and become like children\, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child\, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.\n“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin\, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.\n“Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come\, but woe to the man by whom the temptation comes! And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin\, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life maimed or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin\, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the Gehenna of fire.\n“See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven. Και ευθέως ηνάγκασεν ο Ιησούς τους μαθητάς αυτού εμβήναι εις το πλοίον και προάγειν αυτόν εις το πέραν\, έως ού απολύση τους όχλους.

They said to her\, “Woman\, why are you weeping?” She said to them\, “Because they have taken away my Lord\, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” Saying this\, she turned round and saw Jesus standing\, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her\, “Woman\, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?” Supposing Him to be the gardener\, she said to Him\, “Sir\, if you have carried Him away\, tell me where you have laid Him\, and I will take Him away.” Jesus said to her\, “Mary.” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew\, “Rabboni\,” which means Teacher. For it has been reported to me by Chloe’s people that there is quarreling among you\, my brethren. What I mean is that each one of you says\, “I belong to Paul\,” or “I belong to Apollos\,” or “I belong to Cephas\,” or “I belong to Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispos and Gaius; lest any one should say that you were baptized in my name. (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas. Beyond that\, I do not know whether I baptized any one else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel\, and not with eloquent wisdom\, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 14:14-22\nAt that time\, Jesus saw a great throng; and he had compassion on them\, and healed their sick. Ανέστησαν δε τινες των εκ της συναγωγής της λεγομένης Λιβερτίνων\, και Κυρηναίων\, και Αλεξανδρέων\, και των από Κιλικίας και Ασίας\, συζητούντες τω Στεφάνω. Αλλʼ ουχ ο ύψιστος εν χειροποιήτοις ναοίς κατοικεί\, καθώς ο προφήτης λέγει\, Ο ουρανός μοι θρόνος\, η δε γή υποπόδιον των ποδών μου· ποίον οίκον οικοδομήσετέ μοι; λέγει κύριος· ή τις τόπος της καταπαύσεώς μου; Ουχί η χείρ μου εποίησεν ταύτα πάντα;\n Σκληροτράχηλοι και απερίτμητοι τη καρδία και τοις ωσίν\, υμείς αεί τω πνεύματι τω αγίω αντιπίπτετε· ως οι πατέρες υμών\, και υμείς. Τίνα των προφητών ουκ εδίωξαν οι πατέρες υμών; Και απέκτειναν τους προκαταγγείλαντας περί της ελεύσεως του δικαίου\, ού νύν υμείς προδόται και φονείς γεγένησθε· οίτινες ελάβετε τον νόμον εις διαταγάς αγγέλων\, και ουκ εφυλάξατε. For why should my liberty be determined by another man’s scruples? If I partake with thankfulness\, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks? So\, whether you eat or drink\, or whatever you do\, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God\, just as I try to please all men in everything I do\, not seeking my own advantage\, but that of many\, that they may be saved. Βαρνάβας δε εβουλεύσατο συμπαραλαβείν τον Ιωάννην\, τον καλούμενον Μάρκον. Παύλος δε ηξίου\, τον αποστάντα απʼ αυτών από Παμφυλίας\, και μή συνελθόντα αυτοίς εις το έργον\, μή συμπαραλαβείν τούτον. Εγένετο ούν παροξυσμός\, ώστε αποχωρισθήναι αυτούς απʼ αλλήλων\, τον τε Βαρνάβαν παραλαβόντα τον Μάρκον εκπλεύσαι εις Κύπρον· Παύλος δε επιλεξάμενος Σίλαν εξήλθεν\, παραδοθείς τη χάριτι του θεού υπό των αδελφών. Διήρχετο δε την Συρίαν και Κιλικίαν\, επιστηρίζων τάς εκκλησίας.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον 16:20-24\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, διεστείλατο ο Ιησούς τοις μαθηταίς αυτού ίνα μηδενί είπωσιν ότι αυτός εστιν ᾿Ιησούς ο Χριστός. ᾿Από τότε ήρξατο ο ᾿Ιησούς δεικνύειν τοις μαθηταίς αυτού ότι δεί αυτόν απελθείν εις ῾Ιεροσόλυμα και πολλά παθείν από των πρεσβυτέρων και αρχιερέων και γραμματέων και αποκτανθήναι\, και τη τρίτη ημέρα εγερθήναι. καί προσλαβόμενος αυτόν ο Πέτρος ήρξατο επιτιμάν αυτώ λέγων· ίλεώς σοι\, Κύριε· ου μή έσται σοι τούτο. ο δε στραφείς είπε τω Πέτρω· ύπαγε οπίσω μου\, σατανά· σκάνδαλόν μου εί· ότι ου φρονείς τα του Θεού\, αλλά τα των ανθρώπων. So that the law was our custodian until Christ came\, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come\, we are no longer under a custodian; for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God\, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek\, there is neither slave nor free\, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh\, the son of the free woman through promise. Now this is an allegory: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai\, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem\, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free\, and she is our mother.
