DESCRIPTION:Άγιοι\, εορταί\, και Αναγνώσεις – Τετάρτη\, 6 Αυγούστου 2025\nΆγιοι και εορταί: Η Μεταμόρφωσις του Κυρίου Ημών Ιησού Χριστού\nΗμέρα Νηστείας (Κατάλυσις ιχθύος\, ελαίου και οίνου)\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου Όρθρου: Κατά Λουκάν 9:28-36\n᾿Εγένετο δε μετά τους λόγους τούτους ωσεί ημέραι οκτώ και παραλαβών τον Πέτρον και ᾿Ιωάννην και ᾿Ιάκωβον ανέβη εις το όρος προσεύξασθαι. καί εγένετο εν τω προσεύχεσθαι αυτόν το είδος του προσώπου αυτού έτερον και ο ιματισμός αυτού λευκός εξαστράπτων. καί ιδού άνδρες δύο συνελάλουν αυτώ\, οίτινες ήσαν Μωϋσής και ᾿Ηλίας\, οί οφθέντες εν δόξη έλεγον την έξοδον αυτού ήν έμελλε πληρούν εν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ. ο δε Πέτρος και οι σύν αυτώ ήσαν βεβαρημένοι ύπνω· διαγρηγορήσαντες δε είδον την δόξαν αυτού και τους δύο άνδρας τους συνεστώτας αυτώ. καί εγένετο εν τω διαχωρίζεσθαι αυτούς απ᾿ αυτού είπεν ο Πέτρος πρός τον ᾿Ιησούν· επιστάτα\, καλόν εστιν ημάς ώδε είναι· και ποιήσωμεν σκηνάς τρείς\, μίαν σοί και μίαν Μωϋσεί και μίαν ᾿Ηλία\, μή ειδώς ό λέγει. ταύτα δε αυτού λέγοντος εγένετο νεφέλη και επεσκίασεν αυτούς· εφοβήθησαν δε εν τω εισελθείν εκείνους εις την νεφέλην· καί φωνή εγένετο εκ της νεφέλης λέγουσα· ούτός εστιν ο υιός μου ο αγαπητός· αυτού ακούετε. καί εν τω γενέσθαι την φωνήν ευρέθη ο ᾿Ιησούς μόνος. και αυτοί εσίγησαν και ουδενί απήγγειλαν εν εκείναις ταις ημέραις ουδέν ών εωράκασιν.\nΑνάγνωσις Επιστολής: Β’ Πέτρ. 1:10-19\nΑδελφοί\, σπουδάσατε βεβαίαν υμών την κλήσιν και εκλογήν ποιείσθαι· ταύτα γαρ ποιούντες ου μή πταίσητέ ποτε· ούτως γαρ πλουσίως επιχορηγηθήσεται υμίν η είσοδος εις την αιώνιον βασιλείαν του κυρίου ημών και σωτήρος Ιησού Χριστού. Διό ουκ αμελήσω αεί υμάς υπομιμνῄσκειν περί τούτων\, καίπερ ειδότας\, και εστηριγμένους εν τη παρούση αληθεία. Δίκαιον δε ηγούμαι\, εφʼ όσον ειμί εν τούτω τω σκηνώματι\, διεγείρειν υμάς εν υπομνήσει· ειδώς ότι ταχινή εστιν η απόθεσις του σκηνώματός μου\, καθώς και ο κύριος ημών Ιησούς Χριστός εδήλωσέν μοι. Σπουδάσω δε και εκάστοτε έχειν υμάς μετά την εμήν έξοδον την τούτων μνήμην ποιείσθαι. Ου γαρ σεσοφισμένοις μύθοις εξακολουθήσαντες εγνωρίσαμεν υμίν την του κυρίου ημών Ιησού Χριστού δύναμιν και παρουσίαν\, αλλʼ επόπται γενηθέντες της εκείνου μεγαλειότητος. Λαβών γαρ παρά θεού πατρός τιμήν και δόξαν\, φωνής ενεχθείσης αυτώ τοιάσδε υπό της μεγαλοπρεπούς δόξης\, Ούτός εστιν ο υιός μου ο αγαπητός\, εις όν εγώ ευδόκησα· και ταύτην την φωνήν ημείς ηκούσαμεν εξ ουρανού ενεχθείσαν\, σύν αυτώ όντες εν τω όρει τω αγίω. Και έχομεν βεβαιότερον τον προφητικόν λόγον\, ώ καλώς ποιείτε προσέχοντες\, ως λύχνω φαίνοντι εν αυχμηρώ τόπω\, έως ού ημέρα διαυγάση\, και φωσφόρος ανατείλη εν ταις καρδίαις υμών.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον 17:1-9\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, παραλαμβάνει ο ᾿Ιησούς τον Πέτρον και ᾿Ιάκωβον και ᾿Ιωάννην τον αδελφόν αυτού και αναφέρει αυτούς εις όρος υψηλόν κατ᾿ ιδίαν· καί μετεμορφώθη έμπροσθεν αυτών\, και έλαμψε το πρόσωπον αυτού ως ο ήλιος\, τα δε ιμάτια αυτού εγένετο λευκά ως το φώς. καί ιδού ώφθησαν αυτοίς Μωσής και ᾿Ηλίας μετ᾿ αυτού συλλαλούντες. αποκριθείς δε ο Πέτρος είπε τω ᾿Ιησού· Κύριε\, καλόν εστιν ημάς ώδε είναι· ει θέλεις\, ποιήσωμεν ώδε τρείς σκηνάς\, σοί μίαν και Μωσεί μίαν και μίαν ᾿Ηλία. έτι αυτού λαλούντος ιδού νεφέλη φωτεινή επεσκίασεν αυτούς\, και ιδού φωνή εκ της νεφέλης λέγουσα· ούτός εστιν ο υιός μου ο αγαπητός\, εν ώ ευδόκησα· αυτού ακούετε· καί ακούσαντες οι μαθηταί έπεσον επί πρόσωπον αυτών και εφοβήθησαν σφόδρα. καί προσελθών ο ᾿Ιησούς ήψατο αυτών και είπεν· εγέρθητε και μή φοβείσθε. επάραντες δε τους οφθαλμούς αυτών ουδένα είδον ει μή τον ᾿Ιησούν μόνον. καί καταβαινόντων αυτών από του όρους ενετείλατο αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς λέγων· μηδενί είπητε το όραμα έως ού ο υιός του ανθρώπου εκ νεκρών αναστή.

Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep\, and when they wakened they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. And as the men were parting from him\, Peter said to Jesus\, “Master\, it is well that we are here; let us make three booths\, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah” – not knowing what he said. As he said this\, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. And a voice came out of the cloud\, saying\, “This is my Son\, my Beloved; listen to him!” And when the voice had spoken\, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silence and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.\nEpistle Reading: II Peter 1:10-19\nBRETHREN\, be more zealous to confirm your call and election\, for if you do this you will never fall; so there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.\nTherefore I intend always to remind you of these things\, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right\, as long as I am in this body\, to arouse you by way of reminder\, since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon\, as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. And I will see to it that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.\nFor we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ\, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory\, “This is my beloved Son\, with whom I am well pleased\,” we heard this voice borne from heaven\, for we were with him on the holy mountain. And we have the prophetic word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place\, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 17:1-9\nAt that time\, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John his brother\, and led them up a high mountain apart. And he was transfigured before them\, and his face shone like the sun\, and his garments became white as light. And behold\, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah\, talking with him. And Peter said to Jesus\, “Lord\, it is well that we are here; if you wish\, I will make three booths here\, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” He was still speaking\, when lo\, a bright cloud overshadowed them\, and a voice from the cloud said\, “This is my beloved Son\, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” When the disciples heard this\, they fell on their faces\, and were filled with awe. But Jesus came and touched them\, saying\, “Rise\, and have no fear.” And when they lifted up their eyes\, they saw no one but Jesus only. And as they were coming down the mountain\, Jesus commanded them\, “Tell no one the vision\, until the Son of man is raised from the dead.”

Και ει πατέρα επικαλείσθε τον απροσωπολήπτως κρίνοντα κατά το εκάστου έργον\, εν φόβω τον της παροικίας υμών χρόνον αναστράφητε\, ειδότες ότι ου φθαρτοίς\, αργυρίω ή χρυσίω\, ελυτρώθητε εκ της ματαίας υμών αναστροφής πατροπαραδότου\, αλλά τιμίω αίματι ως αμνού αμώμου και ασπίλου Χριστού\, προεγνωσμένου μέν πρό καταβολής κόσμου\, φανερωθέντος δε επ᾿ εσχάτων των χρόνων δι᾿ υμάς τους δι᾿ αυτού πιστεύοντας εις Θεόν τον εγείραντα αυτόν εκ νεκρών και δόξαν αυτώ δόντα\, ώστε την πίστιν υμών και ελπίδα είναι εις Θεόν. Τάς ψυχάς υμών ηγνικότες εν τη υπακοή της αληθείας διά Πνεύματος εις φιλαδελφίαν ανυπόκριτον\, εκ καθαράς καρδίας αλλήλους αγαπήσατε εκτενώς\, αναγεγεννημένοι ουκ εκ σποράς φθαρτής\, αλλά αφθάρτου\, διά λόγου ζώντος Θεού και μένοντος εις τον αιώνα· διότι πάσα σάρξ ως χόρτος\, και πάσα δόξα ανθρώπου ως άνθος χόρτου· εξηράνθη ο χόρτος\, και το άνθος αυτού εξέπεσε· το δε ρήμα Κυρίου μένει εις τον αιώνα. τούτο δέ εστι το ρήμα το ευαγγελισθέν εις υμάς.  ᾿Αποθέμενοι ούν πάσαν κακίαν και πάντα δόλον και υποκρίσεις και φθόνους και πάσας καταλαλιάς\, ως αρτιγέννητα βρέφη το λογικόν άδολον γάλα επιποθήσατε\, ίνα εν αυτώ αυξηθήτε εις σωτηρίαν\, είπερ εγεύσασθε ότι χρηστός ο Κύριος. Πάλιν αμήν λέγω υμίν ότι εάν δύο υμών συμφωνήσωσιν επί της γής περί παντός πράγματος ού εάν αιτήσωνται\, γενήσεται αυτοίς παρά του πατρός μου του εν ουρανοίς. ού γάρ εισι δύο ή τρείς συνηγμένοι εις το εμόν όνομα\, εκεί ειμι εν μέσω αυτών. Και εγένετο ότε ετέλεσεν ο ᾿Ιησούς τους λόγους τούτους μετήρεν από της Γαλιλαίας και ήλθεν εις τα όρια της ᾿Ιουδαίας πέραν του ᾿Ιορδάνου. καί ηκολούθησαν αυτώ όχλοι πολλοί\, και εθεράπευσεν αυτούς εκεί. Τότε προσηνέχθη αυτώ παιδία\, ίνα επιθή αυτοίς τάς χείρας και προσεύξηται· οι δε μαθηταί επετίμησαν αυτοίς. ο δε ᾿Ιησούς είπεν· άφετε τα παιδία και μή κωλύετε αυτά ελθείν πρός με· των γαρ τοιούτων εστίν η βασιλεία των ουρανών. καί επιθείς τάς χείρας αυτοίς επορεύθη εκείθεν.

By his great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead\, and to an inheritance which is imperishable\, undefiled\, and unfading\, kept in heaven for you\, who by God’s power are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice\, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials\, so that the genuineness of your faith\, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire\, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Without having known him you love him; though you do not now see him you believe in him and rejoice with unutterable and exalted joy. As the outcome of your faith you obtain the salvation of your souls.\nThe prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired about this salvation; they inquired what person or time was indicated by the Spirit of Christ within them when predicting the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glory. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you\, in the things which have now been announced to you by those who preached the good news to you through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven\, things into which angels long to look.\nTherefore gird up your minds\, be sober\, set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children\, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance\, but as he who called you is holy\, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; since it is written\, “You shall be holy\, for I am holy.” And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds\, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile. You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers\, not with perishable things such as silver or gold\, but with the precious blood of Christ\, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was destined before the foundation of the world but was made manifest at the end of the times for your sake. Through him you have confidence in God\, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory\, so that your faith and hope are in God.\nHaving purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren\, love one another earnestly from the heart. You have been born anew\, not of perishable seed but of imperishable\, through the living and abiding word of God; for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers\, and the flower falls\, but the word of the Lord abides for ever.” That word is the good news which was preached to you.\nSo put away all malice and all guile and insincerity and envy and all slander. Like newborn babes\, long for the pure spiritual milk\, that by it you may grow up to salvation; for you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.\nCome to him\, to that living stone\, rejected by men but in God’s sight chosen and precious; and like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house\, to be a holy priesthood\, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in scripture: “Behold\, I am laying in Zion a stone\, a cornerstone chosen and precious\, and he who believes in him will not be put to shame.” To you therefore who believe\, he is precious\, but for those who do not believe\, “The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner\,” and “A stone that will make men stumble\, a rock that will make them fall”; for they stumble because they disobey the word\, as they were destined to do. But you are a chosen race\, a royal priesthood\, a holy nation\, God’s own people\, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Και ατενίσαντες εις αυτόν άπαντες οι καθεζόμενοι εν τω συνεδρίω\, είδον το πρόσωπον αυτού ωσεί πρόσωπον αγγέλου. Είπεν δε ο αρχιερεύς\, Ει άρα ταύτα ούτως έχει; Ο δε έφη\, Άνδρες αδελφοί και πατέρες\, ακούσατε. Ο θεός της δόξης ώφθη τω πατρί ημών Αβραάμ όντι εν τη Μεσοποταμία\, πρίν ή κατοικήσαι αυτόν εν Χαρράν\, και είπεν πρός αυτόν\, Έξελθε εκ της γής σου και εκ της συγγενείας σου\, και δεύρο εις γήν ήν άν σοι δείξω. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured\, refusing to accept release\, that they might rise again to a better life. For why should my liberty be determined by another man’s scruples? If I partake with thankfulness\, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks? So\, whether you eat or drink\, or whatever you do\, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God\, just as I try to please all men in everything I do\, not seeking my own advantage\, but that of many\, that they may be saved. Be imitators of me\, as I am of Christ. I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you. Τότε ούν εισήλθε και ο άλλος μαθητής ο ελθών πρώτος εις το μνημείον\, και είδε\, και επίστευσεν. Ουδέπω γαρ ᾔδεισαν την Γραφήν\, ότι δεί αυτόν εκ νεκρών αναστήναι. Απήλθον ούν πάλιν πρός εαυτούς οι μαθηταί.\nΑνάγνωσις Επιστολής: Β’ Τιμ. 2:1-10\nΤέκνον Τιμόθεε\, ενδυναμού εν τη χάριτι τη εν Χριστώ Ιησού. Τον κοπιώντα γεωργόν δεί πρώτον των καρπών μεταλαμβάνειν. Νόει ά λέγω· δῴη γαρ σοι ο κύριος σύνεσιν εν πάσιν. Μνημόνευε Ιησούν Χριστόν εγηγερμένον εκ νεκρών\, εκ σπέρματος Δαυίδ\, κατά το ευαγγέλιόν μου· εν ώ κακοπαθώ μέχρι δεσμών\, ως κακούργος· αλλʼ ο λόγος του θεού ου δέδεται. Διά τούτο πάντα υπομένω διά τους εκλεκτούς\, ίνα και αυτοί σωτηρίας τύχωσιν της εν Χριστώ Ιησού\, μετά δόξης αιωνίου.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον  9:27-35\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, παράγοντι εκείθεν τω ᾿Ιησού ηκολούθησαν αυτώ δύο τυφλοί κράζοντες και λέγοντες· ελέησον ημάς\, υιέ Δαυΐδ. ελθόντι δε εις την οικίαν προσήλθον αυτώ οι τυφλοί\, και λέγει αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς· πιστεύετε ότι δύναμαι τούτο ποιήσαι; λέγουσιν αυτώ· ναί\, Κύριε. τότε ήψατο των οφθαλμών αυτών λέγων· κατά την πίστιν υμών γενηθήτω υμίν. καί ανεῴχθησαν αυτών οι οφθαλμοί· και ενεβριμήσατο αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς λέγων· οράτε μηδείς γινωσκέτω. οι δε εξελθόντες διεφήμισαν αυτόν εν όλη τη γή εκείνη.\nΑυτών δε εξερχομένων ιδού προσήνεγκαν αυτώ άνθρωπον κωφόν δαιμονιζόμενον· καί εκβληθέντος του δαιμονίου ελάλησεν ο κωφός\, και εθαύμασαν οι όχλοι λέγοντες ότι ουδέποτε εφάνη ούτως εν τω ᾿Ισραήλ. οι δε Φαρισαίοι έλεγον· εν τω άρχοντι των δαιμονίων εκβάλλει τα δαιμόνια.\nΚαι περιήγεν ο ᾿Ιησούς τάς πόλεις πάσας και τάς κώμας διδάσκων εν ταις συναγωγαίς αυτών και κηρύσσων το ευαγγέλιον της βασιλείας και θεραπεύων πάσαν νόσον και πάσαν μαλακίαν εν τω λαώ.
