Εν δε τω πορεύεσθαι\, εγένετο αυτόν εγγίζειν τη Δαμασκώ· και εξαίφνης περιήστραψεν αυτόν φώς από του ουρανού· και πεσών επί την γήν\, ήκουσεν φωνήν λέγουσαν αυτώ\, Σαούλ\, Σαούλ\, τί με διώκεις; Είπεν δέ\, Τις εί\, κύριε; Ο δε κύριος είπεν\, Εγώ ειμι Ιησούς όν σύ διώκεις· αλλά ανάστηθι και είσελθε εις την πόλιν\, και λαληθήσεταί σοι τί σε δεί ποιείν. Οι δε άνδρες οι συνοδεύοντες αυτώ ειστήκεισαν ενεοί\, ακούοντες μέν της φωνής\, μηδένα δε θεωρούντες. Ηγέρθη δε ο Σαύλος από της γής· ανεωγμένων τε των οφθαλμών αυτού\, ουδένα έβλεπεν\, χειραγωγούντες δε αυτόν εισήγαγον εις Δαμασκόν. Και ήν ημέρας τρείς μή βλέπων\, και ουκ έφαγεν ουδέ έπιεν. Απεκρίθη δε Ανανίας\, Κύριε\, ακήκοα από πολλών περί του ανδρός τούτου\, όσα κακά εποίησεν τοις αγίοις σου εν Ιερουσαλήμ· και ώδε έχει εξουσίαν παρά των αρχιερέων\, δήσαι πάντας τους επικαλουμένους το όνομά σου. Είπεν δε πρός αυτόν ο κύριος\, Πορεύου\, ότι σκεύος εκλογής μοι εστίν ούτος\, του βαστάσαι το όνομά μου ενώπιον εθνών και βασιλέων\, υιών τε Ισραήλ· εγώ γαρ υποδείξω αυτώ όσα δεί αυτόν υπέρ του ονόματός μου παθείν. Απήλθεν δε Ανανίας και εισήλθεν εις την οικίαν\, και επιθείς επʼ αυτόν τάς χείρας είπεν\, Σαούλ αδελφέ\, ο κύριος απέσταλκέν με\, ο οφθείς σοι εν τη οδώ ή ήρχου\, όπως αναβλέψης και πλησθής πνεύματος αγίου. Και ευθέως απέπεσον από των οφθαλμών αυτού ωσεί λεπίδες\, ανέβλεψέν τε και αναστάς εβαπτίσθη\, και λαβών τροφήν ενίσχυσεν.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ιωάννην 6:48-54\nΕίπεν ο Κύριος πρός τους πεπιστευκότας αυτώ Ιουδαίους· Εγώ ειμι ο άρτος της ζωής. οι πατέρες υμών έφαγον το μάννα εν τη ερήμω και απέθανον· ούτός εστιν ο άρτος ο εκ του ουρανού καταβαίνων\, ίνα τις εξ αυτού φάγη και μή αποθάνη. εγώ ειμι ο άρτος ο ζών ο εκ του ουρανού καταβάς· εάν τις φάγη εκ τούτου του άρτου\, ζήσεται εις τον αιώνα. και ο άρτος δε όν εγώ δώσω\, η σάρξ μού εστιν\, ήν εγώ δώσω υπέρ της του κόσμου ζωής. ᾿Εμάχοντο ούν πρός αλλήλους οι ᾿Ιουδαίοι λέγοντες· πώς δύναται ούτος ημίν δούναι την σάρκα φαγείν; είπεν ούν αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς· αμήν αμήν λέγω υμίν\, εάν μή φάγητε την σάρκα του υιού του ανθρώπου και πίητε αυτού το αίμα\, ουκ έχετε ζωήν εν εαυτοίς. ο τρώγων μου την σάρκα και πίνων μου το αίμα έχει ζωήν αιώνιον\, και εγώ αναστήσω αυτόν εν τη εσχάτη ημέρα.

Now as he journeyed he approached Damascus\, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed about him. DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 05/08/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Synaxis of the Holy Powder (or manna) which emitted from the tomb of Saint John the Theologian ; Arsenios the Great\nMatins Gospel Reading: John 21:15-25\nAt that time\, Jesus revealed himself to his disciples after he was raised from the dead\, and he said to Simon Peter\, “Simon\, son of John\, do you love me more than these?” He said to him\, “Yes\, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him\, “Feed my lambs.” A second time he said to him\, “Simon\, son of John\, do you love me?” He said to him\, “Yes\, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him\, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time\, “Simon\, son of John\, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time\, “Do you love me?” And he said to him\, “Lord\, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him\, “Feed my sheep. Truly\, truly\, I say to you\, when you were young\, you girded yourself and walked where you would; but when you are old\, you will stretch out your hands\, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go.” (This he said to show by what death he was to glorify God.) And after this he said to him\, “Follow me.” Peter turned and saw following them the disciple whom Jesus loved\, who had lain close to his breast at the supper and had said\, “Lord\, who is it that is going to betray you?” When Peter saw him\, he said to Jesus\, “Lord\, what about this man?” Jesus said to him\, “If it is my will that he remain until I come\, what is that to you? Follow me!” The saying spread abroad among the brethren that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die\, but\, “If it is my will that he remain until I come\, what is that to you?” This is the disciple who is bearing witness to these things\, and who has written these things; and we know that his testimony is true. But there are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written\, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.\nEpistle Reading: I John 1:1-7\nTHAT WHICH WAS from the beginning\, which we have heard\, which we have seen with our eyes\, which we have looked upon and touched with our hands\, concerning the word of life – the life was made manifest\, and we saw it\, and testify to it\, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us – that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you\, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing this that our joy may be complete.\nThis is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you\, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. So there was much joy in the city.\nBut there was a man named Simon who had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the nation of Samaria\, saying that he himself was somebody great. They all gave heed to him\, from the least to the greatest\, saying\, “This man is that power of God which is called Great.” And they gave heed to him\, because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic. But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ\, they were baptized\, both men and women. Επύθετο ούν παρ᾽ αυτών την ώραν εν ή κομψότερον έσχε. Και είπον αυτώ ότι χθές ώραν εβδόμην αφήκεν αυτόν ο πυρετός. Έγνω ούν ο πατήρ ότι εν εκείνη τη ώρα εν ή είπεν αυτώ ο Ιησούς ότι ο υιός σου ζή· και επίστευσεν αυτός και η οικία αυτού όλη. Τούτο πάλιν δεύτερον σημείον εποίησεν ο Ιησούς ελθών εκ της Ιουδαίας εις την Γαλιλαίαν.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever.  Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings; for it is well that the heart be strengthened by grace\, not by foods\, which have not benefited their adherents.  We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat.  For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp.  So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood.  Therefore let us go forth to him outside the camp and bear the abuse he endured.  For here we have no lasting city\, but we seek the city which is to come.  Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God\, that is\, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.  Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have\, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 5:14-19\nThe Lord said to his disciples\, “You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hid.  Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel\, but on a stand\, and it gives light to all in the house.
