For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing\, to one a fragrance from death to death\, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not\, like so many\, peddlers of God’s word; but as men of sincerity\, as commissioned by God\, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.\nAre we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need\, as some do\, letters of recommendation\, to you\, or from you? You blind guides\, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!\n“Woe to you\, scribes and Pharisees\, hypocrites! for you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the plate\, but inside they are full of extortion and rapacity. You blind Pharisee! first cleanse the inside of the cup and of the plate\, that the outside also may be clean.\n“Woe to you\, scribes and Pharisees\, hypocrites! for you are like whitewashed tombs\, which outwardly appear beautiful\, but within they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Ότι Χριστού ευωδία εσμέν τω θεώ εν τοις σωζομένοις και εν τοις απολλυμένοις· οίς μέν οσμή θανάτου εις θάνατον\, οίς δε οσμή ζωής εις ζωήν. Και πρός ταύτα τις ικανός; Ου γαρ εσμεν ως οι λοιποί\, καπηλεύοντες τον λόγον του θεού· αλλʼ ως εξ ειλικρινείας\, αλλʼ ως εκ θεού\, κατενώπιον του θεού\, εν Χριστώ λαλούμεν. Αρχόμεθα πάλιν εαυτούς συνιστάνειν; Ει μή χρῄζομεν\, ώς τινες\, συστατικών επιστολών πρός υμάς\, ή εξ υμών συστατικών; Η επιστολή ημών υμείς εστέ\, εγγεγραμμένη εν ταις καρδίαις ημών\, γινωσκομένη και αναγινωσκομένη υπό πάντων ανθρώπων· φανερούμενοι ότι εστέ επιστολή Χριστού διακονηθείσα υφʼ ημών\, εγγεγραμμένη ου μέλανι\, αλλά πνεύματι θεού ζώντος\, ουκ εν πλαξίν λιθίναις\, αλλʼ εν πλαξίν καρδίαις σαρκίναις.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον  23:23-28\nΕίπεν ο Κύριος πρός τους εληλυθότας πρός αυτόν Ιουδαίους· Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι αποδεκατούτε το ηδύοσμον και το άνηθον και το κύμινον\, και αφήκατε τα βαρύτερα του νόμου\, την κρίσιν και τον έλεον και την πίστιν· ταύτα δε έδει ποιήσαι κακείνα μή αφιέναι. οδηγοί τυφλοί\, οι διϋλίζοντες τον κώνωπα\, την δε κάμηλον καταπίνοντες! Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι καθαρίζετε το έξωθεν του ποτηρίου και της παροψίδος\, έσωθεν δε γέμουσιν εξ αρπαγής και αδικίας. Φαρισαίε τυφλέ\, καθάρισον πρώτον το εντός του ποτηρίου και της παροψίδος\, ίνα γένηται και το εκτός αυτών καθαρόν. Ουαί υμίν\, γραμματείς και Φαρισαίοι υποκριταί\, ότι παρομοιάζετε τάφοις κεκονιαμένοις\, οίτινες έξωθεν μέν φαίνονται ωραίοι\, έσωθεν δε γέμουσιν οστέων νεκρών και πάσης ακαθαρσίας.
