I hope to come to you soon\, but I am writing these instructions to you so that\, if I am delayed\, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God\, which is the church of the living God\, the pillar and bulwark of the truth. Great indeed\, we confess\, is the mystery of our religion:\nGod was manifested in the flesh\,\njustified in the Spirit\,\nseen by angels\,\npreached among the nations\,\nbelieved on in the world\,\ntaken up in glory.\nNow the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by giving heed to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons\, through the pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared\, who forbid marriage and enjoin abstinence from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good\, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving; for then it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.\nGospel Reading: Luke 9:51-57\, 10:22-24\, 13:22\nAt that time\, when the days drew near for him to be received up\, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers ahead of him\, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans\, to make ready for him; but the people would not receive him\, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw it\, they said\, “Lord\, do you want us to bid fire come down from heaven and consume them as Elijah did?” But he turned and rebuked them\, and he said\, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of; for the Son of man came not to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went on to another village.\nAs they were going along the road\, he said to those who followed him\, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father\, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Then turning to the disciples he said privately\, “Blessed are the eyes which see what you see! Και στραφείς πρός τους μαθητάς κατ᾿ ιδίαν είπε· μακάριοι οι οφθαλμοί οι βλέποντες ά βλέπετε. λέγω γαρ υμίν ότι πολλοί προφήται και βασιλείς ηθέλησαν ιδείν ά υμείς βλέπετε\, και ουκ είδον\, και ακούσαι ά ακούετε\, και ουκ ήκουσαν. Και διεπορεύετο κατά πόλεις και κώμας διδάσκων και πορείαν ποιούμενος εις ῾Ιερουσαλήμ.
