Ου γαρ ελάβετε πνεύμα δουλείας πάλιν εις φόβον\, αλλʼ ελάβετε πνεύμα υιοθεσίας\, εν ώ κράζομεν\, Αββα\, ο πατήρ. Αυτό το πνεύμα συμμαρτυρεί τω πνεύματι ημών\, ότι εσμέν τέκνα θεού· ει δε τέκνα\, και κληρονόμοι· κληρονόμοι μέν θεού\, συγκληρονόμοι δε Χριστού· είπερ συμπάσχομεν\, ίνα και συνδοξασθώμεν. Τη γαρ ματαιότητι η κτίσις υπετάγη\, ουχ εκούσα\, αλλά διά τον υποτάξαντα\, επʼ ελπίδι· ότι και αυτή η κτίσις ελευθερωθήσεται από της δουλείας της φθοράς εις την ελευθερίαν της δόξης των τέκνων του θεού.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον  9:9-13\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, παράγων ο ῾Ιησούς εκείθεν είδεν άνθρωπον καθήμενον επί το τελώνιον\, Ματθαίον λεγόμενον\, και λέγει αυτώ· ακολούθει μοι. και αναστάς ηκολούθησεν αυτώ. Και εγένετο αυτού ανακειμένου εν τη οικία\, και ιδού πολλοί τελώναι και αμαρτωλοί ελθόντες συνανέκειντο τω ᾿Ιησού και τοις μαθηταίς αυτού. καί ιδόντες οι Φαρισαίοι είπον τοις μαθηταίς αυτού· διατί μετά των τελωνών και αμαρτωλών εσθίει ο διδάσκαλος υμών; ο δε ᾿Ιησούς ακούσας είπεν αυτοίς· ου χρείαν έχουσιν οι ισχύοντες ιατρού\, αλλ᾿ οι κακώς έχοντες. πορευθέντες δε μάθετε τί εστιν έλεον θέλω και ου θυσίαν. ου γαρ ήλθον καλέσαι δικαίους\, αλλά αμαρτωλούς εις μετάνοιαν.
