For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has wrought through me to win obedience from the Gentiles\, by word and deed\, by the power of signs and wonders\, by the power of the Holy Spirit\, so that from Jerusalem and as far round as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ\, thus making it my ambition to preach the gospel\, not where Christ has already been named\, lest I build on another man’s foundation\, but as it is written\, “They shall see who have never been told of him\, and they shall understand who have never heard of him.” This is the reason why I have so often been hindered from coming to you. But now\, since I no longer have any room for work in these regions\, and since I have longed for many years to come to you\, I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain\, and to be sped on my journey there by you\, once I have enjoyed your company for a little. At present\, however\, I am going to Jerusalem with aid for the saints. For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints at Jerusalem; they were pleased to do it\, and indeed – they are in debt to them\, for if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings\, they ought also to be of service to them in material blessings. When therefore I have completed this\, and have sealed to them this fruit\, I shall go on by way of you to Spain; and I know that when I come to you I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 12:46-50; 13:1-3\nAt that time\, while Jesus was speaking to the people\, behold\, his mother and his brothers stood outside\, asking to speak to him. Διό και ενεκοπτόμην τα πολλά του ελθείν πρός υμάς· νυνί δε μηκέτι τόπον έχων εν τοις κλίμασιν τούτοις\, επιποθίαν δε έχων του ελθείν πρός υμάς από πολλών ετών\, ως εάν πορεύωμαι εις την Σπανίαν\, ελεύσομαι πρός υμάς· ελπίζω γαρ διαπορευόμενος θεάσασθαι υμάς\, και υφʼ υμών προπεμφθήναι εκεί\, εάν υμών πρώτον από μέρους εμπλησθώ. Νυνί δε πορεύομαι εις Ιερουσαλήμ\, διακονών τοις αγίοις. Ευδόκησαν γαρ Μακεδονία και Αχαΐα κοινωνίαν τινά ποιήσασθαι εις τους πτωχούς των αγίων των εν Ιερουσαλήμ. Ευδόκησαν γάρ\, και οφειλέται αυτών εισιν. Ει γαρ τοις πνευματικοίς αυτών εκοινώνησαν τα έθνη\, οφείλουσιν και εν τοις σαρκικοίς λειτουργήσαι αυτοίς. Τούτο ούν επιτελέσας\, και σφραγισάμενος αυτοίς τον καρπόν τούτον\, απελεύσομαι διʼ υμών εις την Σπανίαν. Οίδα δε ότι ερχόμενος πρός υμάς εν πληρώματι ευλογίας του ευαγγελίου του Χριστού ελεύσομαι.\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον 12:46-50\, 13:1-3\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, λαλούντος τοις όχλοις ιδού η μήτηρ και οι αδελφοί αυτού ειστήκεισαν έξω\, ζητούντες λαλήσαι αυτώ. είπε δέ τις αυτώ· ιδού η μήτηρ σου και οι αδελφοί σου εστήκασιν έξω ζητούντές σε ιδείν. ο δε αποκριθείς είπε τω λέγοντι αυτώ· τίς εστιν η μήτηρ μου και τίνες εισίν οι αδελφοί μου; και εκτείνας την χείρα αυτού επί τους μαθητάς αυτού έφη· ιδού η μήτηρ μου και οι αδελφοί μου· όστις γαρ άν ποιήση το θέλημα του πατρός μου του εν ουρανοίς\, αυτός μου αδελφός και αδελφή και μήτηρ εστίν. Εν δε τη ημέρα εκείνη εξελθών ο ᾿Ιησούς της οικίας εκάθητο παρά την θάλασσαν· και συνήχθησαν πρός αυτόν όχλοι πολλοί\, ώστε αυτόν εις πλοίον εμβάντα καθήσθαι\, και πάς ο όχλος επί τον αιγιαλόν ειστήκει. και ελάλησεν αυτοίς πολλά εν παραβολαίς λέγων.
