For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners\, so by one man’s obedience many will be made righteous. Law came in\, to increase the trespass; but where sin increased\, grace abounded all the more\, so that\, as sin reigned in death\, grace also might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.\nWhat shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?\nGospel Reading: Matthew 9:14-17\nAt that time\, the disciples of John came to Jesus\, saying\, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast\, but your disciples do not fast?” And Jesus said to them\, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come\, when the bridegroom is taken away from them\, and then they will fast. And no one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment\, for the patch tears away from the garment\, and a worse tear is made. Neither is new wine put into old wineskins; if it is\, the skins burst\, and the wine is spilled\, and the skins are destroyed; but new wine is put into fresh wineskins\, and so both are preserved.”

Άρα ούν ως διʼ ενός παραπτώματος εις πάντας ανθρώπους εις κατάκριμα\, ούτως και διʼ ενός δικαιώματος εις πάντας ανθρώπους εις δικαίωσιν ζωής. Ώσπερ γαρ διά της παρακοής του ενός ανθρώπου αμαρτωλοί κατεστάθησαν οι πολλοί\, ούτως και διά της υπακοής του ενός δίκαιοι κατασταθήσονται οι πολλοί. Νόμος δε παρεισήλθεν\, ίνα πλεονάση το παράπτωμα· ού δε επλεόνασεν η αμαρτία\, υπερεπερίσσευσεν η χάρις· ίνα ώσπερ εβασίλευσεν η αμαρτία εν τω θανάτω\, ούτως και η χάρις βασιλεύση διά δικαιοσύνης εις ζωήν αιώνιον\, διά Ιησού Χριστού του κυρίου ημών. Τί ούν ερούμεν; Επιμένομεν τη αμαρτία\, ίνα η χάρις πλεονάση; Μή γένοιτο. Οίτινες απεθάνομεν τη αμαρτία\, πώς έτι ζήσομεν εν αυτή;\nΑνάγνωσις Ευαγγελίου: Κατά Ματθαίον  9:14-17\nΤω καιρώ εκείνω\, προσέρχονται αυτώ οι μαθηταί ᾿Ιωάννου λέγοντες· διατί ημείς και οι Φαρισαίοι νηστεύομεν πολλά\, οι δε μαθηταί σου ου νηστεύουσι; καί είπεν αυτοίς ο ᾿Ιησούς· μή δύνανται οι υιοί του νυμφώνος πενθείν εφ᾿ όσον χρόνον μετ᾿ αυτών εστιν ο νυμφίος; ελεύσονται δε ημέραι όταν απαρθή απ᾿ αυτών ο νυμφίος\, και τότε νηστεύσουσιν. ουδείς δε επιβάλλει επίβλημα ράκους αγνάφου επί ιματίω παλαιώ· αίρει γαρ το πλήρωμα αυτού από του ιματίου\, και χείρον σχίσμα γίνεται. ουδέ βάλλουσιν οίνον νέον εις ασκούς παλαιούς· ει δε μήγε\, ρήγνυνται οι ασκοί\, και ο οίνος εκχείται και οι ασκοί απολούνται· αλλά οίνον νέον εις ασκούς βάλλουσιν καινούς\, και αμφότεροι συντηρούνται.
