Διά τούτο τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ιδού οι δουλεύσαντές μοι φάγονται\, υμείς δε πεινάσετε. ιδού οι δουλεύοντές μοι πίονται\, υμείς δε διψήσετε· ιδού οι δουλεύοντές μοι ευφρανθήσονται\, υμείς δε αισχυνθήσεσθε· ιδού οι δουλεύοντές μοι αγαλλιάσονται εν ευφροσύνη\, υμείς δε κεκράξεσθε διά τον πόνον της καρδίας υμών και από συντριβής πνεύματος υμών ολολύξετε. καταλείψετε γαρ το όνομα υμών εις πλησμονήν τοις εκλεκτοίς μου\, υμάς δε ανελεί Κύριος· τοις δε δουλεύουσί μοι κληθήσεται όνομα καινόν\, ό ευλογηθήσεται επί της γής· ευλογήσουσι γαρ τον Θεόν τον αληθινόν\, και οι ομνύοντες επί της γής ομούνται τον Θεόν τον αληθινόν· επιλήσονται γαρ την θλίψιν αυτών την πρώτην\, και ουκ αναβήσεται αυτών επί την καρδίαν.\nΑνάγνωσις Παλαιᾱς Διαθήκης: Γένεσις 46:1-7\n᾽Απάρας δε ᾿Ισραήλ\, αυτός και πάντα τα αυτού\, ήλθεν επί το φρέαρ του όρκου και έθυσε θυσίαν τω Θεώ του πατρός αυτού ᾿Ισαάκ. είπε δε ο Θεός τω ᾿Ισραήλ εν οράματι της νυκτός\, ειπών· ᾿Ιακώβ\, ᾿Ιακώβ\, ο δε είπε· τί εστιν; ο δε λέγει αυτώ· εγώ ειμι ο Θεός των πατέρων σου· μή φοβού καταβήναι εις Αίγυπτον· εις γαρ έθνος μέγα ποιήσω σε εκεί\, και εγώ καταβήσομαι μετά σού εις Αίγυπτον\, και εγώ αναβιβάσω σε εις τέλος\, και ᾿Ιωσήφ επιβαλεί τάς χείρας αυτού επί τους οφθαλμούς σου. ανέστη δε ᾿Ιακώβ από του φρέατος του όρκου\, και ανέλαβον οι υιοί ᾿Ισραήλ τον πατέρα αυτών και την αποσκευήν και τάς γυναίκας αυτών επί τάς αμάξας άς απέστειλεν ᾿Ιωσήφ άραι αυτόν\, και αναλαβόντες τα υπάρχοντα αυτών και πάσαν την κτήσιν\, ήν εκτήσαντο εν γή Χαναάν\, εισήλθον εις Αίγυπτον\, ᾿Ιακώβ και πάν το σπέρμα αυτού μετ᾿ αυτού\, υιοί και υιοί των υιών αυτού μετ᾿ αυτού\, θυγατέρες και θυγατέρες των θυγατέρων αυτού· και πάν το σπέρμα αυτού ήγαγεν εις Αίγυπτον.\nΑνάγνωσις Παλαιᾱς Διαθήκης: Παροιμίαι 23:15-24:5\nΥιέ\, εάν σοφή γένηταί σου η καρδία\, ευφρανείς και την εμήν καρδίαν\,  και ενδιατρίψει λόγοις τα σά χείλη πρός τα εμά χείλη\, εάν ορθά ώσι.  μή ζηλούτω η καρδία σου αμαρτωλούς\, αλλά εν φόβω Κυρίου ίσθι όλην την ημέραν·  εάν γαρ τηρήσης αυτά\, έσται σοι έκγονα\, η δε ελπίς σου ουκ αποστήσεται.  άκουε\, υιέ\, και σοφός γίνου\, και κατεύθυνε εννοίας σής καρδίας·  μή ίσθι οινοπότης\, μηδέ εκτείνου συμβουλαίς κρεών τε αγορασμοίς·  πάς γαρ μέθυσος και πορνοκόπος πτωχεύσει\, και ενδύσεται διερρηγμένα και ρακώδη πάς υπνώδης.  άκουε\, υιέ\, πατρός του γεννήσαντός σε και μή καταφρόνει ότι γεγήρακέ σου η μήτηρ.  αλήθειαν κτήσαι και μή απώση σοφίαν και παιδείαν και σύνεσιν.  καλώς εκτρέφει πατήρ δίκαιος\, επί δε υιώ σοφώ ευφραίνεται η ψυχή αυτού.  ευφραινέσθω ο πατήρ και η μήτηρ επί σοί\, και χαιρέτω η τεκούσά σε.  δός μοι\, υιέ\, σήν καρδίαν\, οι δε σοί οφθαλμοί εμάς οδούς τηρείτωσαν·  πίθος γαρ τετρημένος εστίν αλλότριος οίκος\, και φρέαρ στενόν αλλότριον·  ούτος γαρ συντόμως απολείται\, και πάς παράνομος αναλωθήσεται.  τίνι ουαί; τίνι θόρυβος; τίνι κρίσεις; τίνι δε αηδίαι και λέσχαι; τίνι συντρίμματα διακενής; τίνος πελιδνοί οι οφθαλμοί;  ου των εγχρονιζόντων εν οίνοις; ου των ιχνευόντων πού πότοι γίνονται;  μή μεθύσκεσθε εν οίνοις\, αλλά ομιλείτε ανθρώποις δικαίοις και ομιλείτε εν περιπάτοις· εάν γαρ εις τάς φιάλας και τα ποτήρια δώς τους οφθαλμούς σου\, ύστερον περιπατήσεις γυμνότερος υπέρου.  το δε έσχατον ώσπερ υπό όφεως πεπληγώς εκτείνεται\, και ώσπερ υπό κεράστου διαχείται αυτώ ο ιός.  οι οφθαλμοί σου όταν ίδωσιν αλλοτρίαν\, το στόμα σου τότε λαλήσει σκολιά\,  και κατακείση ώσπερ εν καρδία θαλάσσης και ώσπερ κυβερνήτης εν πολλώ κλύδωνι.  ερείς δέ· τύπτουσί με και ουκ επόνεσα\, και ενέπαιξάν μοι\, εγώ δε ουκ ᾔδειν· πότε όρθρος έσται\, ίνα ελθών ζητήσω μεθ᾿ ών συνελεύσομαι;\nΥιέ\, μή ζηλώσης κακούς άνδρας μηδέ επιθυμήσης είναι μετ᾿ αυτών·  ψευδή γαρ μελετά η καρδία αυτών\, και πόνους τα χείλη αυτών λαλεί.  μετά σοφίας οικοδομείται οίκος και μετά συνέσεως ανορθούται.  μετά αισθήσεως εμπίπλανται ταμιεία εκ παντός πλούτου τιμίου και καλού.  κρείσσων σοφός ισχυρού και ανήρ φρόνησιν έχων γεωργίου μεγάλου.
